I’m only 24 weeks now but have steadily gained about a 1- 1 1/2 pounds a week since about week 12.  I lost 2 pounds in the 1st trimester. Doctor says I am right on track.

From what I hear, weight gain for people of normal weight before pregnancy should be ~1-5 lbs in the first trimester, and then ~1lb per week for the rest of the pregnancy.

I’m still in my first trimester (11wks on weds) and I’ve gained 1lb so far. I know plenty of people who didn’t gain at all until 2nd trimester, though. And one coworker was so sick her whole pregnancy she only gained 6lbs total! Her docs were very worried though.

I gained a little bit in the first tri (not a lot) but seem to have started packing it on these last few weeks. I’m 18 weeks now.

I gained 5 pounds until week 17, then 1pound per week until the end.. 28 pounds total… 11 months later, still have 7 that I need to lose to get to pre-pregnancy, plus 3 that I’d like to lose just because.

With my first pregnancy, I lost, lost, lost all the way through until the very end of the second trimester.  Then I stopped losing, but didn’t gain, and in the last half of the third trimester I gained about 20lbs (none of it stuck, I delivered below my prepregnancy weight, and after all the swelling and everything went down, that 20lbs was all gone.)

With my 2nd (I’m 26w now) I only just now started gaining.  I held steady all the way up until..well, this past Friday.  I don’t know how much of that is me, and how much is just baby junk, but I’m interested to see if this trend continues, and what I lose after birth!  Right now, I am on track to deliver at about the same weight I delivered my daughter at.  (I have an 18lb buffer before I get there.)

I didn’t gain any during the first trimester and a half but then gained pretty steadily 2-3 lbs/month after that. All in all, I gained about 21lbs total and lost it by the time I weighed myself 2 weeks PP.

@daybyday:  I don’t think there is any way to know.  But yes that can happen.  I didn’t gain anything in the first trimester and at 24 weeks I am now up 19.5 pounds.  So I guess that is more than a pound and a half a week.  If I kept going at this rate I would end up at 45 pounds total gain (YIKES!)  I am hoping it slows down!

@daybyday:  Yeah, there’s no way to tell here.  But I would say that it depends why your weight gain hasn’t been an issue.  Is it because you’re eating right/exercising?  Or have you just been lucky?

Also, keep in mind that the later you get, the more likely it is baby related as opposed to overindulgence of cheesecake related.  There is so much junk that comes with being pregnant.  Just be conscious of how much/what you’re eating, and keep an eye on it, but don’t obsess over it.  And if, and the end, you gain more than you’d prefer, you’ll just work to lose it.

I gained between 3-5 pounds in the first trimester.  I was never sick, and super bloated, so the bloating was always fluctuating.

I’m 28 weeks now and gained about 24 pounds.  I feel gross, but people are still telling me I look small for 7 months preg.
