I probably started thinking about it seriously at around 3 years in… It was another two before I got the proposal though!

On our 3rd date. Embarassed  I went to the bathroom at the bar, looked myself in the mirror and said “Holy crap I’m gonna marry this guy.”

Seriously, I just knew early that this guy was different and that he was the one.  I wasn’t like “wedding crazy”, but did start daydreaming a bit.  We actually talked about marriage for the first time maybe 2-3 months in (he admitted that he had the idea a lot earlier as well).  We’ve been together 1.5 years now, and are now looking at rings, planning on a year long engagement.  So despite getting the itch early we’re not really rushing things.  I’ve just had the luxurey of a lot of time to plan.

@lilsweetie:  I got it at the 3 year mark. He proposed at 3.5 years. Maybe because I kept pushing him and saying, “I’m ready, you know”.

I’ve been married before, and honestly, didn’t think I’d ever re-marry. Something was just SO right this time! I think I knew within the first 2-3 months. We still have a ways to go before it actually happens, but we both knew pretty quickly.

We’ve been dating 5 months and I’m on this board so… Ha! I’m 34 and he’s 42 so we got prett serious pretty quickly. We’ve talked about marriage and children.. he brings up wedding venues pretty regularly even! But no ring yet. I have the itch but it’s not a full-fledged RASH yet!

5 months into our relationship we started talking about marriage. We had already known each other for a while at this point and we knew that we needed to discuss how we felt about marriage and things like that. I didn’t really get the itch until about 4 months later, 9 months into our relationship, but FH proposed a month after that, so I didn’t have to deal with it very long.

I thought that my boyfriend was totally commitment-phobic until he let it slip at Christmastime that he had been joking with his mom about us having kids. That was around 6 months. Now we’re at almost 9 months and talking about moving in together after I finish grad school in August, and we’ve already made a time line for having kids- so I asked to be put on the “waiting” list, because I know I will go CRAZY without some support, and my friends are already tired of hearing me talk about him!

We were together about four years before I hinted that I wanted to get married soon-ish. ANd luckily for me, a proposal wasn’t long after!

I got the itch about the one year mark, when we had been living together for six months. We got engaged after 1.5 years & are having about a 1.5 year engagement, getting married 6 days before our 3 year anniversary.

I think it was around 2 or 2 1/2 years together when we went on vacation, went to a cool bookstore, and I, having bee thinking about it for a couple months at that point, bought an interesting little book on the historical traditions of marriage and started reading it in his presence. He got the point Embarassed but only now (we’ve been together for 4 years) have we just started talking about when we should get married and talking rings and gems (oooo, fun!). Because neither of us were actually ready back then!

We started TALKING about it about a year in just in general terms, got pretty serious about it about 6 months later & now it’s just a given and we’re waiting for the right time (i.e. me to graduate)

For me it was last spring/summer. I was just graduating college from a photography course and I had decided to start my own business and be a wedding photographer! As you could imagine, weddings turned into my life! I would be at them on weekends, and would be researching in my spare time-I have wedding brain- even right now!

So, after my graduation during the summer my boyfriend suprised me by bringing up the idea of getting engaged. It was in July 2012 and he basically asked if I was interested in being engaged soon and of course I was! We had been dating for 3 years and 10 months at that point and I was ready but my practical side said O.K, he’s still in school another year so let’s wait till he’s done. I guess I thought it to be more appropriate. I still think it was the right decision, but it’s March and I can’t wait until the end of April when he’s done school! Ever since he’s brought it up last year I can’t stop thinking about it haha. We’ve already been looking at engagement rings though ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait until it happens ๐Ÿ™‚

@lilsweetie: After about a year. It seems soon, but when you know, you know! He proposed a few months before our two-year anniversary.
