i moved to this town abotu a year and a half ago and havve now found out that for “normal” pregnancies they dont do your first ultrasond until after 12 weeks. in fact they dont even want to do an appointment until after 12 weeks. I find that odd because where i used to live it was pretty much appointment asap and ultrasound at around 7 or 8 weeks.
so how is it for you? do you have to wait to see someone or is it as soon as they can get you in?

I was 10 weeks when I went in for my first appointment and my first ultrasound was my NT scan at 13 weeks. Had I opted to not have the NT scan, my first ultrasound would have been my 18 week anatomy scan.

Mine was at 8 weeks. Just depends on your doctor…

It does depend on the doctor. I had my first ultrasound at 10 weeks, but that was only because that was when I could get to the doctor.

Mine was at 8 weeks, but only because my doctor has her own sonogram machine in the office.

My first was a dating ultrasound just shy of 7 weeks. Then 10 weeks (not planned, due to spotting), 12.5 weeks, and 20 weeks (scheduled for January).

Mine was a dating ultrasound at just over 7 weeks. The only reason I got it though was because of my history of long irregular cycles, otherwise I would have had to wait until the 12 week mark to have one.

Ours was supposed to be right around the 12 week mark, but there was some unsureness about how far along I actually was due to my super weird cycles, so they did one around 9 weeks just for dating purposes.

7 weeks for dating and to hear the heartbeat.
I was told it was kinda early by the LVN who saw me to confirm my pregnancy at 5 weeks. I have an HMO at a large medical center, not sure if that makes a difference.

Had my first at 5w 5d, and all we really saw was the sac. Doc ordered 3 sets of bloodwork over the next 5 days to check my HCG levels, if they were doubling. Had another at 6w 4d to confirm the pregnancy and we saw the little baby and it was sorta pulsing — doc said it was the heartbeat. Went back in at 8w 3d where we saw a bigger baby and heard the heartbeat. All 3 were transvaginal u/s. Going for my NT ultrasound in about a week. I have Kaiser and they just always scheduled my next appointment at the end of my visits so I thought it was all normal. My first appt was a week after my PCP confirmed my pregnancy via urine test, She told me to see my OB to start prenatal care. No spotting or cramping, just regular checkups. After my NT, I’m scheduled again for Jan 7. 🙂

My first u/s was the NT scan at something like 12 or 13 weeks.
Many OBs will not too medically unnecessary scans, especially since insurance often doesn’t cover them, so unless you are completely clueless about dating, many OBs won’t give an u’s until the NT scan.
Our first appointment was at 8 or 9 weeks but it was just paperwork with a nurse. It’s fairly common not to see an OB until sometime between 8 and 12 weeks, so there’s nothing wrong with the first appointment at 12 weeks. I know right now you really want to see a doctor… I remember the feeling, but later on, you’ll realize that it would’ve been rpetty unnecessary.

I just had my first u/s done at 7 weeks 6 days on Tuesday. Normally my doctor doesn’t do the first one until around 12 weeks, but I have longer/irregular periods so they wanted to do a dating ultrasound.
