We told immediate family members and a few close friends at 12w. I told my coworkers and a few not-as-close friends at 20w. Darling Husband has told a few of his clients along the way. I’ve yet to post anything about my PG to social media channels and I’m currently at 37w.

I’m not pg yet, but I’m curious how many of you kept the secret from your immmediate family for so long? I see my parents all the time, there is so way I could hide it for more than a few weeks, especially from my mom. Even if i wasn’t showing I feel like she would ‘just know’ somehow.

We kept it a secret from our parents/family until 12 weeks because I felt it was only fair to tell both sides on the same weekend… I told my best friend the day I got the BFP and a few other close friends around 8-9 weeks. Work knew pretty early because I have to do fetal monitoring for radiation exposure (but I know no one from work in “real life”). FB official at 14 weeks.

We went public with our NT ultrasound pics at 13+4!

I’m dying to tell my Mom, but I know hubby would want to tell his Mom. She can’t keep secrets. Being the first grand baby and she’s on fb…I know she will tell the world out of excitement. So for now, we will wait. I’m at 5 weeks and have a prenatal appt next Tuesday. Surprised so early but they scheduled it. So we will confirm how far long then do announcement pics at the end of the month.

@oldmatron: I totally respect your decision, but you’re a bit misguided with the lack of caring about pregnancy posts. I actually am genuinely happy for my friends and love hearing how they’re doing without burdening them for constant e-mail updates.

We went public early at 8 weeks.

@cora_123: I told most ppl I know right around 6 weeks. I have a big mouth. I told my boss at 10w and made an announcement on fb at 12w. Looking back, I should have probably kept my lips zipped longer than 6w but I know myself- I would have told ppl if something bad had happened, too.

@oldmatron: maybe your friends are like that, but I haven’t had the experience of people rolling their eyes. That said, I don’t post frequently about being pregnant or post ultrasound pics or anything. I announcedd it at 11w and I posted a pic by request at 20w. I’ve posted things about pregnant women still working out but no day to day stuff. Sorry you have such hateful people in your life 🙁

We have told close friends and immediate family only. Waiting until 10 week ulrasound and we may tell a few more people but we won’t be going public to the rest of our family and friends until 12 weeks….and I’m not a facebook sharer…so while I won’t hide that I’m pregnant in photos and if references to it happen then they do…but I’m not into posting ultrasound photos, belly shots, etc….I am journaling but not into blogging.

We told our parents at 12 weeks and went public at 14 weeks! It was getting hard to hide it!

We told family and close friends as soon as we found out at 6 weeks, and told everyone else at 16 weeks.

We told family at 7 weeks (which was right after our first doctor’s appointment), close friends at 8 weeks (we were on a weekend getaway with them, and me not drinking the entire weekend would have been a dead giveaway), and went FB official at 13 or 14 weeks.

@oldmatron: …I personally love seeing people announce their pregnancy on Facebook. It’s so nice. Better than 90% of the nonsense that most people post on FB. I had a butt-ton of responses with my announcement, and I highly doubt people were “just entertaining me” when they said congrats.
I personally told my parents, inlaws and co-workers at 6-7 weeks. I figured that even if I had a miscarriage, I would want them to know anyways. I’m clsoe to these people and we know everything about eachother.
The rest of my family and friends found out when I announced on facebook at 12-13 weeks.

Told family at 15 weeks and everyone else at 20 weeks, when it was impossible to hide anymore.
