I met my FH’s parents probably a week or two after we first started dating. They were SUPER busy with getting things done around the house and doing things for work so I sort of felt out of their loop. But then things settled down a little and we have a really great relationship. I love my almost in-laws!!! :]

Good luck with meeting your in-laws! I’m sure they will love you! Just be yourself :]

I thought his mom was nice and his step dad was grumpy (but we got in at midnight, so I could see why). Since then I’ve found out his step dad is a pretty cool and patient guy and his mother is pretty…uh…uninvolved? She calls to talk maybe once a month, but doesn’t really care one way or another about anything going on in our lives. Which actually could be a blessing from what I’ve read from other brides!

So, I like them enough if that helps.

I knew his brother and one of his sisters before we started dating. I worked with his sister, she was a manager and everyone hated her but his brother was really nice. I thought his parents were nice and his sisters were very clicky.

Good luck and the great thing is you never have to worry about them causing stress during your wedding planning. They should be in a great mood since it will be the wedding so hopefully everything starts off on the right foot.

Both of our families live in CA.  We had been dating for about 2 months and then his parents were coming to Seattle for a visit – thats when I met them. My FIL’s and I took a liking to each other straight away.  They’re great and I’m super lucky to soon be part of their family Laughing

I think we had been dating about a year before he met my parents, or I met his. His parents live across country, but the wait to meet parents had more to do with us, and less with the distance – it’s just how we are – to say that not everyone gets to meet the parents is a huge understatement!

I was nervous to meet his mom because he is an only child (and she still spoils him) but she is AWESOME. She was sort of distant with me the first time we met, but since then has been nothing but amazing. I’m so lucky to have her as my Future Mother-In-Law.

All the parents get along great, and like each other, which is nice too!

I met them about a month after we started dating.  It was a family birthday party, so I was introduced to an aunt, uncle, cousin, and brother as well!  I was on my best behavior!

We met a few months before getting engaged- everyone pretty much knew it was coming at that point though.  They were really nice to me.  It was kind of awkward, but that’s just because I’m a super awkward person and I never know what to say when I meet new people.  They were totally nice and exited to meet me.  Apparently they just thought I was really shy and quiet.  But since then I’ve gotten to know them a little better and am more comfortable around them.  I was really worried about not making a bad impression, so it took me a long time to loosen up when they were around.

a couple months into it, they invited him (and me!) on their family vacation. I thought they were really sweet and fun. They accidentally called me his ex gf’s name though! that was a funny moment.

I met them prob right around 1 year. Hubs & I met in college, so I didn’t meet them till spring break.

Hubs parents are the most unusual people I’ve ever met. They are very stand-offish & stiff. And it’s not like they are only like that with me, thats how they act towards everyone including their son, lol!

I met my Future In-Laws about a month after Fiance and I started dating.  I went over to their house for Thanksgiving dinner the week before Thanksgiving.  I was really nervous as I didn’t know what to expect, but my Future In-Laws are really laid-back and absolutely WONDERFUL!  We all seemed to click really quickly.

It was nice too that, since I was 11 hours away from my family and his family was 30 minutes from where Fiance and I were at school, his parents really welcomed me right from the start and I always felt included and welcomed.  I’m so lucky to soon be a part of their family!

My husband and I started dating while we were studying abroad in Spain.  When we came back to the States, he went to Atlanta to start working for the rest of the summer and I went home to South Florida with my parents for a couple of weeks.

The first full day I was back home I went and met his parents…BY MYSELF.  It was an experience, but it went well and it definitely made an impression on his parents because they tell the story all the time.

As his dad walked me to my car that first night, he told me “I don’t know where your relationship with my son will lead, but I do know that he will never find a better girl than you.”

I thought that was sweet 🙂
