    @silkspectre94:

    I Just sent mine this past weekend. I set my RSVP date for may and wanted any guests to have a bit longer than a month to decide. Although a lot of them said we didn’t need to hand out invites. Because they were already coming.

    @silkspectre94:  I do think that is a little too soon. I am dying to send mine out too! I will be sending my invites out at the end of this month (around the 29th) and my wedding is June 22.

    I think the reccommended time for a local wedding is about 8 weeks before but I say do what you like. I am having a wedding that will require half of our guests to fly to Canada from Europe so we just sent ours out this week (6 months in advance). I was planning on sending them later but everyone has been constantly asking us when the invites are coming so we though “Stuff etiquette, let’s just send them out”.

    You know your guests the best so if you think they won’t loose them or forget then I say go for it. I would still have the RSVP by date much closer to the event though in case people have to change their minds.

    @silkspectre94:  When is your RSVP date?  Always account for a cushion with days if you havnt already for straggler RSVP’ers

    Send them 8-10 weeks before the wedding, with an RSVP date of 4 weeks before the event. People need enough time to make plans but not too much that they’ll forget or lose the invite.

    @silkspectre94:  my wedding is a holiday weekend, and over half of my 342 guests are out of state, and of the others only 10 are local. so I’m sending mine out a good 8-10 weeks before,.

    We sent ours 11.5 weeks before the wedding, and we gave them 6.5 weeks to RSVP. We did do Save-The-Date Cards, but the reason we sent them a bit earlier is that 100% of our guests are out of town, it is in a neutral town that no one is from. So everyone needed to plan travel, and our hotel blocks expired 4 weeks before the wedding.

    I wouldn’t send them too early. It will just create more time for people to RSVP incorrectly (think they can come and then can’t, change their minds, decide on a different +1, etc) and more headache for you in tracking people down. Keep it at the 8 – 10 week window unless you have extenuating circumstances (like a destination wedding or it’s a holiday weekend or you know there is another wedding that weekend and you want to get people to commit to yours).

    @silkspectre94:  One month is usually standard because people need to finalize stuff with venues.  I gave myself 6 weeks because slack off big time.

    My wedding is in August. I’ve had the invitations for a little over a week but we aren’t sending them out until the end of April. I’m asking guests to RSVP 4 weeks before the wedding.

    So that will give them 3-4 months to RSVP.

    My wedding is in February and I want to send them out in November to beat the Christmas rush. Our venue is also closed during January so we need to coordinator the majority of stuff by December.

    Depends on when you need to have your head counts in. My venue needs them 3 weeks before the wedding, so I’m sending mine out a little earlier, between 3-4 months.
