Hey everyone. I’m getting married in May 2018 – so about 9 months away. I found a wedding band I really love from James Allen and am considering ordering it. I’m not going to be wearing my engagement ring once I’m married, so it’ll just be a band. I work with animals and having a stone jut out from your hand is not ideal and I actually can’t wait till I’m married so I never have to wear my engagement ring again. I know this sounds harsh but this was something my fiance knew ahead of time so we bought a “cheaper” engagement ring with the mindset that we’d spend quite a bit on the wedding band. Is it too early to purchase it? When did you purchase your band? Thanks!

5 weeks before wedding but they are fairly simple. Not sure about something more complex.

mikaylaauel : I had mine made about 1 1/2 weeks before the wedding! It was ready only a couple of days before. I suggest getting it much sooner to eliminate stress! LOL

Mine was a set, he bough the Engagement Ring and band together. We bought his band about 2 months later. We don’t get married until April 2018

I got mine last month, so 16 months early. But the price was amazing so I jumped on it. It’s now sitting in a safe. We were gifted my fiance’s ring before we were engaged, so 2+ years before the wedding.
It’s definitely not too early to purchase your band, but you could also consider waiting for a sale in the meantime.

We got married in May 2016, but I knew Gemvara.com was going to have an awesome Black Friday sale (30% off), so we got ours ordered Thanksgiving weekend 2015 to give it time to arrive, and to fix any sizing issues if there were any. He got my e-ring off Gemvara in 2014, so I knew they were a good vendor, and very easy to work with even though contact was all online.
If you like the ring, there is no reason to wait if you can afford it now. Just have a safe place to store it.
Also, since our wedding/honeymoon was going to be Jamaica, we both got surgical silicone rings from QALO, as stand-in rings for swimming and any time we did not want to risk the metal rings being damaged or lost. That might be a good option for you as well 🙂 Mine glows in the dark.

mikaylaauel : I think you can buy your band whenever you want! If you want to buy it now, go ahead!

- Wedding: July 2017 - The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek
My Darling Husband bought me a set, so I had my wedding band as long as I was engaged, almost 16 months before the wedding! We also picked out DH’s ring early on and ordered it about 8 months before the wedding. I think you can definitely order it now. 🙂

mikaylaauel : we purchased our rings very early, (February I believe – Wedding in November) we had the cash and figured we would just get it out of the way.
Now that we’re getting closer to the wedding I’m glad it is one less expense (and just one less thing in general) I have to worry about.

I’m getting married April 2018 and I bought mine about a month ago because James Allen was having a sale! We just bought FI’s wedding band from blue Nile cos they sent me a 15% discount code. As you can tell, I love sales!

I bought our bands 2 months before the wedding but wish I bought mine earlier. With so many final payments due around that time I ended up buying the cheapest band I could get.

9 months before. Mostly we were just trying to tick things off as early as possible, but also my ring is a match for my e-ring, and both cost more than we were planning to spend. It gave us time to pay it off.

Thanks everyone for their advice! I think I will keep an eye on it and when/if it goes on sale I’ll buy it. Since I have 9 months hopefully it goes on sale at least once before then. Thanks again!

I bought my band a week after we become engaged. I knew exactly what I wanted and it was on sale so I had to act fast. It has now been sitting in a box for almost 1 1/2 years, soon to be on my hand.

mikaylaauel : My wedding band was part of a ring set that matches with the engagement ring, so I got it at the time of engagement (but didn’t wear it until the wedding day).
But I bought my husband’s ring about a month or two before the wedding from Blue Nile.
