Our wedding date is 4/17/11 and I don’t know when is the right time to register. I’ll be creating our wedding website in the next month or so and would like to have our registry info on it. It’s still 10 months away…too soon? When did you register?

I was also curious about this. I have already made my website (our weddin is july 2011) But I made a comment like “will provide more information when the date ges closer.” I would not register this early only for the fact a lot of stores may not carry the same items a 10months down the road. I would maybe do this closer to 5 months. But I am no expert… I have no idea either 🙂

if you register now expect to register again later or update later. things will go on clearance and won’t be available by the time of your wedding. I registered only 4 months beforehand and things were still discontinued by the time of the wedding.

Um, the day the shower invites went out. I am bad! You will probably have to update a lot as things will be seasonal, discontinued, etc. Maybe wait until 6 months before?

good idea…I figured things would be discontinued and I’d have to update so might as well just wait. I guess I can put on the website that registry info will be “coming soon!”

We are doing a honeymoon registry and are also using giftregistry360.com (which combines from multiple stores) to register for a few small tangible items.
The honeymoon registry was set up when we booked the honeymoon (6 months out) and we just posted the link on our wedding website.
The tangible gift registry was set up also 6 months out, but is not finalized. I make changes to it all of the time because it is really early for us to be receiving gifts. It is my goal to get it all wrapped up before the shower invites go out.

We registered 8 months out, but we fully intend to go through and reorganize the registry around 4 months. We’re moving though, so people are buying us housewarming gifts off our registry.

We got engaged in November (wedding this Sept) and registered in December so people would be able to buy Christmas and birthday gifts off the registry. I have had to delete and add a few things because of discontinued items, but it hasnt been a nightmare at all. Plus its always fun to start receiving wedding gifts!

I started the Honeymoon Registry about 7 months ahead of time because it is pretty complicated. We registered at BB&B and Pampered Chef about 3 months ahead of time, right before we sent out the invites.

I registered about 6 months before (when our Save-The-Date Cards went out) and that felt too soon. People really didn’t start purchasing things from our registry until about 2.5 months before, and that was only because of my bridal shower! My wedding is in 3 weeks about about 10 things have been purchased at this point. I think if you do it at 10 months, you’ll just have to update a lot of stuff later because of items being discontinued. I’d only recommend registering that early if you have a shower coming up.

You could start your registry and just put a few items, and then update and add more later on when it’s a bit closer to the date. 🙂

I registered this past weekend, which was way earlier than I planned on. We started getting gifts we DID NOT WANT after we sent out save the dates.

We registered already because it was a lot of fun–but i know we’ll have to go back and replace things that have been discontinued. we just kept having moments like–the movie doesn’t start for an hour and half, what should we do to kill time? lets go the target and register!

we opened our registries (there are like, 4 things on each lol) but aren’t planning on registering until october and we are getting married in february. so about 4 months ahead of time 🙂
