I’m not pregnant but I did remove my belly ring a few months ago. I can tell you though, my hole looks exactly the same as it did when I first removed it. I think that because I had the peircing in for so long, the hole had healed on the inside as well and therefore didn’t change at all once it was removed. I’d guess this would be the same for you so hopefully it won’t effect anything once your baby bump starts growing. Conratulations, btw!

I took mine out before TTC. You can definitely still see it though. The hole doesn’t really look any different than the day i took it out.

If you want to keep it you can get one’s for pregnancy that are longer. Otherwise I’d just take it out now and give it a chance to heal up.

Have you looked at the pregnancy belly rings?

I don’t think I will ever remove my belly ring, it is a part of me just as much as my first ear piercings at 6 yrs. old. Had my belly peircing at 20, had 3 back surgeries and a gallbladder surgery too and just put in a very thick fishing line (threaded) into it – so it would not close on me. I am sure when I am pregnant I will do the same thing again. My peircings are not age discriminating – they are my body art.

Try the thicker fishing line – it works, I promise and it will not stretch your piercing hole out so that your ring/barbell will not fit anymore.

I took mine out as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I had it for almost 10 years and was ready to be rid of it. I’m 25 weeks and my belly is getting pretty large and i’ve had no problems with stretching or anything yet.It pretty much looks the same as when I took it out. I’d go ahead and remove it.

I took mine our when I started to really show?  Thepregnancy didn’t stretch it out but it won’t ever close up since I had it well over ten years.  I never put it back n though, I felt like I outgrew it.  I never thought of mine as body art, it was just a fun thing to do when I was 20 🙂

I kept mine in till around 6 months; thats when I was finally big enough to take it out. I have a little bit of loose skin now but it went right back through after I had my little girl.

I was JUST thinking about this the other day!! Im 30 now, and maybe getting too old for it anyway, so I figure the day I get a + on a test, its coming out…  but maybe I’ll get sad and keep it in as long as possible…  hard to say!

i had mine for 15 years (31 now) and it fell out on our honeymoon. I took that as a sign that it was time and left out out. I got pregnant on that trip and now LO is almost 7 weeks old. My hole is still there though and it didn’t change during the pregnancy.

I kept mine in for a very long time….I was probably close to the end of my pregnancy before I took it out, but I also didn’t get very big at all until the end, I didn’t even show until 6 months so that probably played a role. If you are that worried about it they do make pregnancy navel rings. They are made of a bendable plastic and are extra long so they will move the way your body does while your pregnant and not interfere with anything but also keep the hole open if you are worried about it closing up.

This made me realize wth am I gonna do with the next baby though, I only had 1 navel ring with number 1 now I have 6….eek….may be time to get rid of them once we start TTC for number 2 lol

I’ve had mine for 7 years & I took it out around 13/14 weeks. I didn’t even bother to get a maternity one because the skin around it was so irritated, red & itchy. I’m glad I took it out when I did!

@lilbear:  I had been delaying taking out mine, but the ultrasound tech  made me take it out at our IPS test around 13 weeks, so that was that! I was kind of sad, but I knew it had to happen eventually.
