Got engaged last week. Want to do photos for our Save The Dates at our beach house so I’d ideally like to do it this summer. Wedding is September 2016. I’ve heard it’s frowned upon to send out Save The Dates any earlier than 9 months ahead (mine is not a destination wedding) bc guests may forget about your wedding date. When did you send out your Save The Dates? Thanks everyone!

Our wedding is in Feb, and we plan to send out our save the dates in September/October so around4-5 months out.

Half of our list is from out of town so we send the save the dates 8 months in advance and the invitations about 3 1/2 months in advance. The save the dates may have been a bit early, we could have waited until 6 months in advance

Our wedding is in August so we sent ours in December. It’s pretty common for people to have to book their time off for the year in January, and most of my family lives on the opposite side of the country, so their attendance is definitely dependant on getting time off.

Were sending ours out just under 1 year in advance. Im all for giving as much notice as possible- most of my friends and I are big on travelling and can book our trips 1 year in advance so they would hate to miss out just because they had already booked something. Similarly some of my family work for awful companys that require you to book off dates and holidays up to 1 year in advance. Were sending invites out 7-6 months in advance as well. My motto is always ‘better to be safe than sorry’.

I am getting married in October and sent mine mid-January. I’m glad I sent them out so early, as it seems like we chose a popular wedding date and I’ve heard from many friends that they received a save the date after ours, but had already committed to ours, haha.

I just ordered my save the dates. Wedding is next july, so were sending them out about 11-12 months ahead.
90% of guest list is from out of town though, so that’s why.

I think mine went out 4 or 5 months out. However, most of my guests were local. The out of town ones were told well in advance. Also, in my culture, a STD is uncommon, so I only needed to send ones out to my friends who live around the area.

9 months out. I took the photos in the summer and then sent out the STDs in the fall. I would not send STDs to everyone, just the people you 100% know you’ll invite. It’s surprising how many friendships change over 9 months (especially with breakups and new relationships)

Sent them 1/12 for 6/27 wedding.

- Wedding: June 2016 - Rockfield Manor - Bel Air, MD
Our wedding is next June, and we’re planning on sending out STDs in October, so 8 months. Most of our family lives in the area where we’re having the wedding, but almost all of our friends and a substantial amount of family members live at least two hours away, so we want to give everyone a fair amount of warning.
