Hi all, we got married July 27th, just over a week ago and our thankyou’s are still being made when did you send yours? I don’t want people thinking we have ignored their gifts! I can’t hurry the cards up though lol

@SweetChick: I was much more tardy than I intended. I ordered photo cards and included pictures of the guests from our faux-to booth so I had to wait 6. Weeks for our pictures to be returned from the photog, then design the card and there were issues with it that took a few weeks to fix… So I think mine went out around 2.5 months after the wedding. I hope people REALLY liked the pictures… I sent out my shower thank you cards the day after the shower so hopefully my guests thought it was out of character and I must have a good reason while they were waiting.

Ours were delayed a bit but only because we sent photo cards so our guests obviously understood why. We had to wait for the pro pics to come in, design the cards, order them and wait for them to be delivered and then fill ’em all out. The whole process took about 6 weeks or so.

I really wanted photo cards, but due to the potential for delay did handwritten cards. I had them all out within 4 weeks. My mom said Emily Post would be proud!
My mom said a lot of people lately have just NOT sent any thank you. I think if it’s done within 3 months, I’d be happy as a guest that gave a gift.

I sent mine out at about 3 months, and we did photocards, as well… DH, on the other hand, waited about 7. He had them written at 5, but they didn’t get into the mail, addressed, until two months later. Do I feel bad? Sure. Is anyone going to disown us? Nope.

We got back from our honeymoon on Monday and had all of the cards written on Friday, and mailed them Saturday. If we get any straggler gifts, I’ll send those cards out within 2 or 3 days.
As much as I would love to send a photo card, I already had personalized cards that match our wedding stationery printed several months ago. I do plan to send a photo announcement to the people who couldn’t make it or extended famly who weren’t invited. It was a small destination affair, so I’ll probably have a long list for those.
I’m the type of person that gets REALLY irritated when people don’t send thank yous, so I always get mine out super quickly. I did all of the writing for people that DH doesn’t know (friends of my family), and we both wrote in the ones for people that he did know. I think it sucks if a friend of the groom’s famly sends a gift and only the bride (who they don’t know) participates in thanking them.
I’m a teacher, so we have showers at work frequently and I am STILL mad about the fact that one girl didn’t write thank you notes to ANYONE. Mine was at the very end of the year, so I stayed up late making sure I got all of my thank yous written that night and delivered to everyone’s boxes the next morning. Another coworker just sent one blanket email to the entire faculty. Ugh.

I was married on June 30th and I’m hoping to have them out by the end of the month — so 2 months after the wedding.

We sent all thank yous for gifts received prior to the wedding within 1 week of receiving the gift. We left immediately after the wedding for three weeks for our honeymoon so we did not do the thank yous until we returned- however, we finished them all within a weekish of returning.

We had to wait to print the photos on the cards, so we sent them out in June, 3 months later.

thanks for the replies, ours should be done in the next week, fingers crossed.

we are having a Destination Wedding so I have sent postcards from the location (bought when doing a reccy) as more of an acknowledgment / thank you for gifts that have been bought in advance from our register.
I will then send a photo card after the wedding to all guests and (re) thank for those who have bought gifts and everyone for coming.

Ours went out 1month-2months after the wedding.
We did the ‘will get offended for lateness’ people first and then moved onto the closer people who we could apologies and say ‘they are on thier way’ to. All were out by 2months (we honeymooned and moved house within first 3 weeks too!).

We did photo cards, they took 8 weeks to get. We sent our Thank You cards out 3 months after the wedding.

Ours started going out at about 5 or 6 weeks and the last one (for a late gift) went out 4 days ago. For an event on the scale of a wedding, a month to three months is an acceptable window.
