@roweboat:  2 points: One, we are waiting until the baby shower so we know what all we get and can organize accordingly (plus I need my nursery repainted).

Two, yeah, you have time, BUT if it were me, I’d start organzing a little here and there if you can. Just last night I told my husband, “We only have 12 weeks left. You have choir concerts scheduled that far in advance!” Since week 12 I’ve been saying I have time. Guess what? Still haven’t gotten to anything I wanted to do AND I have a mountain of other responsibilities piled on top.

Almost 30 weeks and we haven’t started on it but the room is empty, we just moved and have not put anything in there yet. Not planning to start really “decorating” until after my shower which is a few weeks away still.

@roweboat:  I got into serious nesting mode in my second trimester, where I wanted everything in the house cleaned and organized.  We didn’t do much with the nursery until much later on.  The second trimester we spent cleaning out all the junk (it was our catch all room).  Around 24 weeks we painted. got the crib and dresser around 28 weeks.  I’m 33 weeks now and still waiting on our glider and have been ordering some nursery decor here and there.

It’s been a slow process lol. I’m starting to feel pressure since I’ve only got 6-8 weeks left, but it will get done (or not haha whatever – baby won’t even be in there for a while).  You definitely h ave PLENTY of time! But, it does go quick and make sure you use your second trimester and get as much done as possible while you still feel good. I thought that good feeling would last forever, but around 31 weeks I started getting tired and sore and just not feeling like doing anything, so I’m glad at least the big stuff is mostly out of the way.

I’m 24 weeks tomorrow. Right now, the nursery room is empty, and we are washing the walls and starting to sand and prep for painting. We have the paint and the supplies, and all the furniture (minus some decor) has been ordered for delivery in 2-4 weeks. Painting will take place over the next week or so.

In tandem, we’re also repainting our guest bedroom to make it the new master bedroom and swapping the guest/master furniture and closet contents (UGH), plus doing other paint touch-ups around the house while we have supplies out.

The room was painted by the time I was 20 weeks and the crib and changing table were set up around 25 weeks. I am 30 weeks now and my husband and Father-In-Law are working on redoing the heating system and putting up crown molding. I want it to be all done by the time I have my shower in 3 weeks, so that I can wash and put away everything during my winter vacation the following week (i’m a teacher).

my husband is so excited and taking this so seriously, that at 11w 5d, we have a roofer, carpenter, painter, and flooring contractor all scheduled to complete a bunch of work by april. lol i just reserved the space for the shower today so it will be in june. but like other people said, we want to have the space ready in order to organize at a moderate pace. we have some things that need to be moved out of the room too. it is currently our make-shift walk in closet! lol

I’m only 5 weeks, but we’ve cleared out the bean’s room already. My cats’ litter boxes were stored in there, so I wanted to move those ASAP so that the fickle kitties had time to adjust to losing their room.

I’d like to paint early in the second trimester (13-14 weeks) to coincide with spring and good painting weather, plus I’d still be small enough that it won’t be too much of a hassle. I imagine we’ll have the big furniture pieces purchased and hopefully assembled by 24-26 weeks, and save all aesthetic decorating for 32-34 weeks after any shower we have but before full-term. I’m a planner; I don’t like to leave anything to the last minute if I can help it!

I have everything set up right now at 27 weeks- furniture put together, paintins on the walls, clothes washed and hung up. We are still missing a mattress and a glider for her room (plus a carseat and stroller gah!) but we won’t be purchasing those until after my showers.

To be honest, the only reason we did it so early is that we both work retail and usually different schedules so I snagged him on one of our rare free days and had him help me get everything done. Now we just need to get our basement and garage clean 🙂

Oh! We also need to purchase/hang curtains over one of her windows, but those are on my registry too. So I still have a few small projects!

We are 31 weeks. The nursery is basically done…the furniture is all in and a few bits and pieces are waiting to go the walls etc which we will do eventually. I will wash all baby clothes next week and should basically be sorted by 34ish weeks 🙂

In the second trimester we are going to dry wall and paint the nursery.

I’m aiming for all the furniture and decor to be finished by 31 weeks, just in case of early labor. 🙂

We set it up at 27 weeks but only because we had a hospital scare and 90% certain 34 weeks induction. Otherwise we were waiting until 30 weeks.

@roweboat:  We emptied it out (it had been our office) at around 20 weeks. We painted it around 25 weeks and we have been putting things in there here and there ever since. At 29 weeks, I have a dresser, a side table, one of those cube organizer shelf things all set up in there. The rest will happen after my shower which is next weekend. So by about 32-35 weeks it will be completely finished.

I understand the need to do it though, I got that when we couldn’t move the stuff out yet because we had someone living with us, it was the pits!

I am 19w and we NEED to start thinking about it…mainly because the nursery is the “exercise room”…aka the room that we never finished and has paint cans/wood/etc in the unfinished closet (doesn’t even have drywall up), the opening to the attic that isn’t finished and our elliptical. UGHHHH painting and setting up a crib are the least of my nursery worries!
