Just found my first noticeable gray hair today. I’m 34 and have medium brunette hair. Just wondering what age you were and whether you dye yours to cover?

I started to get a few stray grays in my late 30s. I really started to notice it and needed to color my hair by 42. I’m 48 now and I’m probably 30% gray, mostly on the top of my head and around the temple area. Thank goodness for a great colorist, though, lol!
Mine started in my late 20s…I dye my hair often so it just covers but I don’t mind them.
I got my first gray hair at age 20 (I remember it vividly.. stark white against my black hair!). I’ve been getting more and more since about 25. I’m 28 now and I get a lot of them around my temples and front hairline. I also dye my hair often so it only gets obvious when I go awhile without dying or if I have a dark color in my hair. I’m a little depressed mine started so young, I blame my high-stress job…
In my teens.:(
Edited to add: usually my dye will cover them color wise, but they are often a different texture so they still stand out (to me anyways.)
27/28ish. It’s ridiculous.
I admire women who “age gracefully” and leave the grays visible (e.g. Jessica Biel – did that last or has she since dyed it?) but there’s just that looming pressure to cover it up.
22, I’m covering it until I get a streak.
In my early 20s 🙁 I’ve been getting highlights ever since to cover them
In the past year or so, I’ve started finding a white hair here and there. I’m 27.
I think around 38/39 is when I started. I’m 44 now and don’t dye, I refuse to let society gray-shame me!
I think it’s genetic. I’ll be super old. My mum is 58 and no grey hair. Dad is 60 & only has grey in his beard.
In high school! I’ve had to dye it ever since. I’m almost 35 now and it’s coming in at least 50% gray. You better believe I’m gonna keep coloring it! Lol
Senior year of college, so I guess I was around 22. I didn’t start coloring my hair until a few years ago at 31-ish. I have dark brown hair it started to get pretty obvious.
I am still gray free but my best friend got her first gray when we were 17 or 18. She colored it for years but over the past 3-4 years, she worked with her colorist to transition from her heavily dyed hair to her natural now mostly silver hair. She turns 35 this week and looks amazing. Somehow the grays haven’t aged her at all. I think she gets some kind of glaze treatment to keep her hair super shiny. Her hair looks so great that I wish I had some silver in mine!
