I started really waiting after my SO and I started seriously discussing marriage. We had talked about marriage plenty of times throughout our relationship, but these discussions were more we were actually thinking about it in our near future rather than at some unknown distant future.

We first discussed marriage and babies in April 2009. So technically I have been waiting since then. I didn’t turn up the fire though until about December 2009. About then is when he knew I was very serious and he had to think about where our relationship was heading. I got pregnant in January 2010 and ever since the latter half of my pregnancy, he started warming up to the idea. I didn’t feel confident that he was ready until about November 2010.

I think the official “waiting” started once he and I talked about the future and agreed we wanted to be married.  Once I knew it was going to happen, I was waiting (and secretly impatient!)

We agreed last summer to get married, and talked about when a good time to have a wedding would be. I suggested we just get engaged without a ring, because it wasn’t important to me, but he wanted to surprise me with a ring. So I consider that the point when I started “waiting” and thats when I began lurking around weddingbee.

While I have been “waiting” for many years, I just officially started waiting in mid December, when our jeweler told me that he was cutting me off on all correspondance on our custom designed ring. The ring is either being set or is done or idk…just waiting now.

Last month when we told each other that this is it (our last relationship). We see people around us getting married and settling down, and both agree that is what we want to do. We’re a bit younger than our peers and there are a few things he and I want to complete first but I still consider this “waiting” because I know it will come. I pretty much know it’ll happen when I finish grad school and the proposal will come ~1yr or so before.

I would say I was unofficially waiting from December 2009-August 2010.  In December we had our first big talk about getting engaged, and he told me then it wouldn’t be until he had a job after graduating and had asked my dad.  I’d say the *official* wait began in August after he graduated and got his job.  When I look at it that way, I didn’t have that long of a wait at all, since he proposed at Christmas.  We’re secretly engaged now (not telling people till I have my ring), so that was really only 4 months of waiting.

However, when I take into consideration the fact that I was sure I wanted to marry him after about 3 months of dating, I was waiting for over two years!  🙂

Aww! Everyone’s stories are so great! I am just being too impatient, I think! I have offically been waiting for six months, but I think that it will be much, much longer. (Although the waiting really is killing me!)

When I knew I wanted to marry him. Well, it’s a combination of a few of your choices because we had discussed our future/ wedding together at that point. I started to think an engagement was possible October of 2009… so it’s been a little while.

I say after our last anniversary since he said he wouldn’t do it before.

never, (sorry Embarassed) I was just happy with where we were at and what we were doing and knew this was “it”, but after 2.5 years he wanted to get married, which I was happy to do once I thought about it!

He and I started talking about marriage about 3 months into our relationship-when you know you know!-and we kept talking about it. So i guess I had been waiting since then. Then 9  months in he told me he had the ring. So I expected it shortly there after. That was Labor Day. He didn’t propose until New Year’s Eve! i was going crazy during those 4 months! lol But it was well worth the wait! Laughing

We have been talking about marriage since the first three months of our relationship when we were 17 haha! So I haven’t been officially waiting since then. I’ve been waiting I guess since I knew it was possible it could happen. Now that we’re turning 20 next month it seems more realistic. I’d say a few months after we moved in together (Sept 2010) I started officially waiting (:

My exact circumstance isn’t up there (then again, whose probably is? It’s hard to make polls exact!) – we were LDR, so my waiting was from the time we decided to get married until he proposed on my visit to see him.
