i’m looking at just over 15 months to our date. i posted a few days back about “falling in love” with a chinese gown and having ethical issues with that, but clarified in the post that “love” was a rather loose term, because i have yet to do more than browse dresses online. well, lucky for me, since then i’ve found a few more gowns that are quite beautiful and within my budget (current frontrunner is davinci bridal style 8465), but again, i have yet to actually try on a dress. there are a few reasons for this. for one, i plan on moving quite some distance (about 7 hours by road) at the end of the summer. another reason is that i have a 14mo son who is only in daycare for about 4 hours, one afternoon a week, because i’m currently unemployed. another reason is that i hope to lose about 35lb before getting married and i’m not sure how many sizes that would be on the dress.
anyway, how soon before your date did you start trying on dresses? anyone have trouble from getting a gown “too soon” (e.g., lose too much/not enough weight, change your mind, etc)?

- Wedding: December 2019 - Paris, France
I bought my dress in october/november ish.. and I am not getting married until july next year! It just came in on wednesday, and I have not tried on my own dress yet, but I can still say I am in love with it. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on. I am sure I won’t have any size issues. A little advice, you can always take in a dress but not always take one out. good luck to you!

I started trying on dresses 10 months before

I started dress shopping about 19 months before the wedding, because I wanted to see what was out there and can be kinda picky. I won’t buy anything unless everything about it is exactly what I want. I so happened to find a dress I loved about a month and a half into looking. It isn’t a dress from a traditional bridal line (I found it at Lord and Taylor), so I really had to get it sooner rather than later.

I started 3 months before our wedding(Pushed up the date). I knew I wanted to purchase a ready to wear dress because of our budget. Thanx 2 preownedweddingdress.com, I found my Girl who is actually a sample. I am having a reception dress made from China as well since it will be easier to party in.
I know everyone thinks differently but I tend to perform better under pressure. Also it prevented definite dress regret.

I started trying on dresses in August 2010 and found my dress in September 2010. My wedding was in May 2011 so that’s about 10 months before the wedding.

I started looking 16 months before the date and found my dress 14 months before the date. Yay! 🙂 I only went to 3 places though and fell in love right away at the second place and bought it at the third. I was already tired of shopping and knew what I wanted and what I didn’t.
