MissRoche:  I’m 23 weeks and still in my normal clothes, though some of my work trousers no longer fasten. I only started showing properly a couple of weeks ago but could still hide it if I wanted to.

Everybody is different though. One of my friends starting wearing maternity pants at 9 weeks because she suffered really badly with bloating.

Congrats I am a first time mom too! I am currently 15 weeks and feel like I hit the point where I am showing a small bump more so then just being bloated. Everyone still says they wouldn’t be able to tell if they didnt know they would think I just gained a few pounds. I am still in normal clothes but they are getti kind of tight and uncomfortable I will probably pick up a few maternity things soon.

It really depends on what shape you were to start with and how you carry. 22 weeks was probably the point people felt comfortable saying I was pregnant, but I wasn’t wearing maternity clothes. Honestly, I bought a couple of pairs of maternity pants (jeggings and stretchy black pants) and wore my normal tops and dresses until way late in the game. I had a few stretchy skirts I could get away with too.

All my pre-pregnancy wrap dresses (stretchy and cotton ones) fit until about 36 weeks (and I was HUGE. 10+lbs baby). I got a few maternity tops and mix and matched my normal button up shirts. I also bought a winter jacket in a size up and it fit without an extra panel until 30 weeks. (On that note, if it’s going to be cold where you are, I highly recommend Make My Belly Fit to change your jacket into maternity. I’m still using mine now for baby wearing. I love it).

I would go through your wardrobe and see what works. The few maternity items I bought I wore to absolute death. It was always really easy to go online and order pieces I was missing. I mainly bought regular clothes in a size up.

I didn’t start showing until around 17 weeks with my first, my second I started showing around week 7 hahaha. I’m almost 12 weeks and people can definitely tell I’m pregnant.

Showing at about 18 weeks and maternity clothes maybe a month later. I bought maternity clothes way before I needed them to take advantage of sales.

I was pretty slim beforehand and started wearing maternity pants/shorts around 12 or 13 weeks, if I remember correctly (mainly because of bloating). I could wear my normal tops until maybe 20 weeks (and could wear normal ones now in a size larger, but just bought a few maternity tops I rotate instead). My husband and I could definitely notice a difference earlier, but family really didn’t until 18 or so weeks, and at almost 25 weeks, strangers are just starting to comment.

I’ve bought all my maternity clothes on sale (Best buy was a $5 pair of Gap jeans!). I just buy a few items when they’re on sale. I think I’ve spent less than $200, and fortunately maternity tops run huge, so I’m hoping I won’t have to buy anything more.

I started showing (to myself) around 19-20 weeks. I think other people could tell on me a few weeks after that. For reference, I’m 5’7″ and 130 pounds – and I also had a huge baby.

16 weeks is when I had a pronounced bump. I had the bloat for a bit and then all the sudden my bump moved up and rounded, I’ve been carrying pretty high this whole pregnancy so it made it more obvious to me because of that. I switched to exclusively maternity pants at 18-19 weeks. I was just tired of trying to make my regular pants work. I’ve been in dresses and skirts mostly now at 30 weeks.

I started showing to the point where people would comment at 18-20 weeks. I started wearing maternity bottoms around 20 weeks. It depends on the shirt but I sometimes still wear non maternity shirts or dresses and I’m 31 weeks. I’ve actually been wearing a non maternity 1 piece bathing suit. It depends on your body.

With my first I started wearing maternity pants around 15weeks and tops at 20-21 weeks.  I am 20 weeks now with my second and no maternity pants yet.  But I wear betabrand to work and they are stretchy with no buttons/zips and on the weekends I wear target maxi skirts.  I did start wearing maternity shorts to work out in around 16-17 weeks and wear those also around the house.  Still wear non maternity shirts to work although I never quit wearing maternity tanks since they’re longer.  I didn’t really pop with my first until 20-25weeks and with my second more like 15 weeks.

I started to show pretty early on. Received comments by 16 weeks. But I didn’t wear maternity really until 20 weeks. I think it’s easier though in the winter/spring, wearing leggings and big sweaters 🙂 I love my maternity clothes, they’re so comfy!

MissRoche:  20w and still in that super bloat phase, definitly don’t have any sort of prominent bump.  If I saw me on the street I would guess I was just on the chubby side right now lol.  I did get some side panel pants early on because I have felt bloated since week 10.  Other than that, I am currently still relying on my flowy tops but I think I wll be ready for some real maternity pants and tops in the next week or so.  Old navy, target and zulily have tons at great deals! I would, however, suggest shopping in store at least once at least to try on, because I have found sizes to be really different.  If you have any friends who can give you hand me downs, go with that too!  I got tons of clothes from friends (only ended up picking out about 10% that I will wear myself) but it will definitely save me some money on some of the staples.
