Yes you want the size you wear normally. I can’t remember when I started to wear my maternity clothes, but I did switch to maternity pants before I wore maternity tops. I felt that I showed around 14 weeks (not much but I could tell!) I also found I looked more or less pregnant depending on what I wore. Also, I am short and there was no place for baby to go but out.

I’m 17 weeks with my first. I started showing about 13-14 weeks. I had to give in and buy a few maternity pants at 13 weeks. I still have one pair of pants I can still button but that’s it.

I had the opposite issue as you, I got sick whenever my stomach was empty so I ate every few hours.

Vineyard-bride15:  I also lost weoght in the first ttimester both times and didn’t start showing until five months last time and around 18 weeks this time. To be honest though, I never really wore maternity clothes. My bump was straight out and pretty high up so most jeans were perfectly fine and in the last month or so it was summer so I usually wore dresses. I had a bigger problem with shirts, but still mostly wore my regular clothes just the longer tank tops and the looser tops.

I started showing around 18 weeks with my first pregnancy. I didn’t start wearing maternity tops until 27 weeks or so, and maternity pants came along around 32 weeks. I used the rubber band trick and kept wearing regular pants and long shirts for as long as possible though.

I’ve only been pregnant once… At about 6 months I had to start wearing my maternity uniform at work.

I was in maternity pants by 10 weeks, but my hips and butt got bigger with my tummy so regular pants with the rubber band didn’t work. I’m 35 weeks now and my tummy is pretty compact, which is surprising as I assumed I would get enormous, since I showed so early. I’ve gained about 40 lbs and this is my first

Vineyard-bride15:  I started showing at 9 weeks, but I was tiny. I was in maternity clothes around 18 weeks and outgrew them at 30 weeks. Most people don’t need to go up in size, but some get lucky and get huge 🙂

I started wearing maternity jeans around 13+ weeks. I started to show more around 15 or 16 weeks. This is my first pregnancy as well.

Yes, maternity sizes will coincide with your dress sizes. I found some cute gently used maternity clothes from an online consignment store.

Pants about 16w and shirts about 20-25w. I could fit into the looser shirts until 25w but wore maternity shirts earlier since most of my clothes fit closer to the body. Maternity pants are amazing so don’t hesitate to jump into those as needed!  I did the hairtrick thing from 13-16w. I wore my regular size the whole time, they design them so you can buy your normal size. Pants with stretch are pretty forgiving. I gained weight in my thighs and hips and filled out my pants well.  They fall down in my nonpregnant state (great thing though is you can pull them out for bloated days way post baby lol). Dresses would be great but I was biggest dec-march so no summer dresses for me.

Commenting to follow. I’ve been wondering and should prob start shopping. I’ve been off of work for the holidays and I’m nervous that my work slacks won’t fit come Monday!

I’m 30 weeks and still not comfortable in maternity pants. I don’t own any maternity tops. I had a couple of pairs of pants I can fit into still, and a couple which I wear the extender band with, and have been doing so in those pants since about 20 weeks. I did buy a few non-maternity dresses in a style which is fitted around the bust then lose following down and I think i’ll get at least another month out of those.
