Around the year and a half mark, when we moved in together. I think once we reached that milestone, I just went right on ahead and started thinking about the next one! ๐Ÿ˜›

A few months in when HE brought the topic up. (I always add that because ppl always think us ladies bombard men with wedding/engagement talk.)

Probably around the 3.5 year mark, but I was 19 when we started dating, so marriage was the furthest thing from my mind at the time!! A few months after I graduated from college I started to really think about marrying him.

Around a year to a year and a half. It got to be a solid “reality” for me around 2 years, and he proposed around 3 and a half years.

@MsMamaBear: I like that you put that; HE brought it up first in our relationship too!

I didn’t say a peep about it for a long time, but I suspected I wanted to marry him after a month or so. At three months I knew for sure.

The first time we talked about it was about 6 months into the relationship.  I let him be the one to bring it up first.  ๐Ÿ™‚

We started going out when I was 14 and he was 15, so probably not seriously thinking about it until about 7-8 years in.  I mean I’ve always thought about it and hoped for it in our future, but didn’t think about us really actually getting married until around 21 or 22.  He proposed on my 23rd birthday ๐Ÿ™‚ So it took a while for us, but we were young and in school.

I think about marriage and future possibilities before going exclusively with someone. Then at 1 year mark started thinking more seriously, then discussed timelines, then bf and I started feeling more serious version of togetherness and view our relationship more as a team. As for “engagement” I don’t think about it that much. I think more in terms of marriage.

around the 2 year mark, we moved in together, got a puppy together, and my brother got married, which put weddings in my brain right at the same time as some big steps. i didn’t get wedding fever so much though until the 3 year mark, and we got engaged soon after we started seriously discussing it in a more-than-hypothetical/distant-future way, 3 years and 4 months after our 4th date

We got together when we were 18 and I didn’t start thinking about it until I was finished with school (post-secondary) and then thought more seriously about it when we started making plans to buy a house together – so around the 7-8 year mark for me. Although if he asked before then I would have definitely said yes! But I’m still waiting and we’re coming up to 10 years now. I’m hoping it happens soon!

Oh gosh, I started thinking about it before we started dating (and so did he). But we didn’t get bothered by it until 6 months or so? Needless to say we are FINALLY engaged after 2.5 years ๐Ÿ™‚

Around 4.5 months, when he basically asked me if I would say yes if he asked me to marry him. This happened over text message (he was away on a training mission).

Edit: Then he kept “sort of proposing” for 6 months, went on a tour to Afghanistan, came home and we got married on paper so his family wouldn’t disapprove of us living together and a few other annoying little reasons. So, that’s 1 yr 4months to married on paper (no JOP or ceremony–it’s the compromise we made with my family who DO NOT consider us (fully) married vs. his family who definitely is the reason we did it and they consider us married.)

Then, we will get married the weekend after our 2 year dating anniversary, which is 3 years and 3 months after we met. Lots of this was long distance and/or during deployments.

When did we get “engaged?” Well, he proposed last night (“Will you marry me?”) and he got me the ring in early February.

Crazy timeline. But, hey, that’s us.

So, I guess we got legally married one year after we first seriously thought about and discussed marriage. We got engaged for real after we got legally married. Yeah.
