That seems very early to be showing. 1-2 weeks would mean 3-4 since LMP so you are only JUST pregnant. Implantation would hVe just occurred. But hey, in saying that, everyone is different.

i started getting quite bloated after eating and drinking probably about 8/9 weeks (noticeably). Now at 12 weeks the bloat bump is permanently there from the morning but grows as I eat and drink more. By the evening I think I look pregnant and people who know me would notice.

Ps for reference I’m 5ft 2 and 57/58kg before pregnancy and now so we are a very similar figure.

Your uterus doesn’t rise above your pelvic bone until 12 weeks, so most people start to show after that. However, my experience was that shorties (I’m 5’0) can sometimes get a bump earlier as there’s very little space for everything to get squished inwards and upwards… so it has to go outwards instead! It’s almost certainly not actually your uterus before 12 weeks though… just your internal bits and bobs being squished up and out a bit. I woke up with a bump shortly before 10 weeks, which is very early. It was rock solid though, and large enough that I was in maternity by 10 weeks as none of my clothes fitted all of a sudden.

At 1-2 weeks it’s probably just gas and water retention as your body adjusts to the new hormones. I found I got water retention very early on, and then that passed and I lost quite a lot of weight with it…. so at least I knew it wasn’t fat, LOL!

its probably just bloat at that early stage. Lots of changes going on in your body and that bloat will eventually turn into a cute bump! I’m pretty petite all over (5’0″) and starting to notice a bump around 14-16 weeks but it wasn’t noticeable through clothes until a few weeks after that. Everyone grows differently. Have fun watching the progression and congrats!!

bgswifey:  youd be 3/4 based on LMP. Thats how most docs etc measure. Pregnancy is 40 weeks for LMP.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think your organs etc would be rising just yet though.

mazzoffee:  No, they wouldn’t. At 3-4 weeks it’s 99% likely it’s just bloat.

Just bloating maybe around 10-12weeks.  Your uterus doesn’t rise out of your pelvis until after 12 weeks so it’s not really a baby you’re looking at before then and even after.  It’s usually bloating and eventually your uterus pushing some of your other internal organs upwards.  I started showing a little bit around 16 w although the public would have just assumed I had gained some weight.  Didn’t really look obviously pregnant until after 23-24weeks.

If you’re 4 weeks pregnant it’s just bloating.  I went to an annual pap and exam at 5w pregnant and they couldn’t even tell I was pregnant (i.e. my uterus was normal sized as the embryo is like almost microscopic or maybe the size of a sesame seed)

bgswifey:  They count 2 weeks from before ovulation- so they are counting the life of the egg here.  They assume a 28 day cycle with ovulation at day 14.  On day 14 you are “2 weeks pregnant” even though you’re not pregnant yet, because the egg is 2 weeks old.  When your missed period comes around (day 28) you would be 4 weeks pregnant.

All that assuming you have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14.  If you have approximately that length of cycle then the weeks is pretty accurate.  If you have very irregular cycles it wouldn’t be uncommon for someone to go in and find out they are a lot less pregnant than they originally thought based on LMP (last menstrual period- how the OBs date pregnancies)

bgswifey:  I’m only 7 weeks but let me tell you, I feel like I’ve been bloated like crazy since about 4 weeks! My pants are all really tight and I’ve even had to resort to bellybands for some pairs. To be fair, I also suffer from IBS and so the pregnancy is probably like a double-whammy on my system haha! Not to mention my boobs have blown up like crazy. Anyway, I’d agree that it’s bloat – I definitely am not showing yet, just uncomfortable!

At 12 weeks, I finally started having a little bump instead of looking like I was hiding cheeseburgers in my pants, haha. I’m 5″3 and weighted 110 before I found out. I started gaining weight pretty steadily but I only started to show to a point where my clothes didn’t fit comfortably anymore around week 12-14.

Don’t know if other bees had this, but I also had that “I woke up with a bump” moment. I forget when it was but I went to bed with a tiny bump and woke up with a pretty prominent one. It literally happened overnight! So just make sure you have clothes that accomodate your body so you’re not scrambling to find your only pair of maternity jeans like me 🙂

bgswifey:  I am 13 weeks 2 days. I had a “bloat bump” from 5-10 weeks., 11 and 12th week i started to feel some stretching and now at 13 weeks i can tell my uterus has moved up, and tummy is getting a little harder.

Usually you add a week to the test so you are maybe around 3 weeks but i am no doctor. You more than likely have bloating.

For reference i am 5’5 and 101.5 lbs.

First time mom, at 14 weeks I definitely was getting pudgier looking then at 17 weeks I got rounder and others asked if I was pregnant. 🙂 currently 18+2 and I’m definitely round and obvious pregnant looking And in maternity clothes.

ps the bloating (what you’re experiencing now) is ridiculous and made me go into maternity pants at week 8 lol
