I am only at 5w3d but the bloat is making all of my pants very uncomfortable. I’m not quite ready to invest in maternity clothes just yet. Maybe it’s a superstitious thing, but I just feel it’s too soon to start buying stuff just yet. but that’s just me.
Questin being, at what point of your pregnancy did you start wearing maternity clothes?

I needed work pants first, I think by 14 weeks or so. mine really had no give at all. Jeans I used the rubberband type trick until about 17 or 18 weeks. I wore my skirts until 15 or 16 weeks. I didnt really need shirts until after 20 weeks and some I wore until 24 weeks or so.
I was somehow lucky enough to have no bloating until around 12 or 13 weeks.
Id buy one pair though if you really need them, no point in being miserable!

Yea, I’m thinking I might have too. If I’m standing my jeans are fine, but when I sit down they dig in and get really uncomfortable.
I’m currently sitting at my desk with my pants button undone and half unzipped. Thankfully it’s cold so I’m wearing a long sweater over it. If a fire breaks out I might loose my britches trying to run away! hahah

@The_Future_KB: i feel your pain. I’m 10w3d and i’m still SO bloated. Luckily work is REALLY casual, so i’ve been able to wear yoga pants/ leggings every day.
I did end up getting a pair of maternity jeans this past weekend, felt it was far enough along to commit to some clothes… but i wont start wearing them just yet. I may try the rubberband trick on my regular jeans if i’m feeling up to denim… i’ve been so exhausted/ blah feeling that yoga pants are perfectly acceptable lately…
I also have a really small torso (i’m 5’8 but ALL legs) so something tells me I may start showing earlier than normal anyway… so we’ll see.

@The_Future_KB: I’ve had the same problem! Mine is all bloat of course this early, but it’s still uncomfortable. I knew I didn’t want to get a lot of clothes because they won’t fit for long, but I broke down yesterday and got 1 pair of maternity jeans from Old Navy to get me through for awhile. They were only $25 on sale, so to me that’s worth being comfortable!

I’ll have to look into that!! I really like Old Navy, and for $25 I could spare that.
My work is really casual as well, but if I break out yoga pants my boss will KNOW something is up!!

I waited until 18 weeks but once I tried on maternity jeans for the first time, I wondered why I had waited so long. They make all the difference!

The first time I was so tiny, I just lived in leggings and other non-maternity stretchy pants and larger sized non-maternity tops the whole time. This time around, even by like 7 weeks I had such bloat and just seemed to pop out right away. I was probably in some maternity clothes by 12 weeks.

I purchased maternity work pants at 8 weeks and was thrilled. I stayed in my skinny jeans with the rubber band trick until 10 weeks then bought maternity skinny jeans, and love them. Bought my first maternity tops at 13 weeks and am enjoying them as I’m showing now at 15.5 weeks.

You can start with a belly band for the bloat as long as your pants fit in every other way, then you dont have to button them.
I was relegated to oe pair of skinny jeans, work pants and leggings pretty early on from being bloated all the way through my stomach butt and thighs. I finally bought a pair of jeans probably around… 10 weeks or something like that. I also bought a pair of skinnys and one pair of work pants at the same time but didn’t start wearing them until my second trimester.

I bought maternity jeans at about 7-8 weeks. My regular jeans were just miserable and I was taking a 17 hour plane ride. There’s as no way I was going to be miserable for that long, so maternity jeans were bought.
I’m 14 weeks now and just bought some maternity shirts this week – more to have the extra length than needing the extra room.

@The_Future_KB: I am 13W5D and I am still not really in maternity clothes quite yet.
I have one pair of maternity leggings a maternity tunic shirt and one pair of maternity skinny black pants that I bought on clearance at Target. Other than that I have managed to squeeze into current pairs of jeans that I own or buy shirts that were loose and a size larger. Thankfully my stomach hasn’t grown yet to the point where I MUST buy maternity only clothing. I suspect that by the end of February I will have to make the change.

I was wearing maternity jeans by 14 weeks. I was wearing maternity shirts and my work pants were replaced with maternity pants by 18 weeks.

@The_Future_KB: 8wks and a few days here…I use a hair tie to close the top botton on my jeans and it seems to work!

I bought maternity pants at about 8 weeks (before I knew I could wear a tummy sleeve or something). Honestly though, I loved them so much I wore them all the time, and now they are here for me every day for work. So comfy. I’m glad I didn’t wait longer.
Bra is a different story…I need to suck it up and get another bra. HATE bra shopping.
