@apex:  Listen.  Don’t be embarassed!  Some people need them early, some people never do.  You need to be comfortable, and you need to look appropriately dressed.  (IE, no holey pants!) During my first pregnancy, I went all through my first trimester not in maternity pants.  Even when I switched out of my regular jeans, I wore yoga pants.  IDK what my problem was, or why I fought it so hard, everyone was like “They’re so comfortable!”

Finally, during one of my monthly appointments, my OB was like “Honey.  Go buy some maternity pants, you’re not doing yourself any favors.”

I was so embarassed.  But when I got them, they were magical.  And trust me, around Thanksgiving, when everyone is like “Oh, my pants are so tight, I’m SO FULL.”  You’ll still be eating, and you will feel fabulous. πŸ™‚

I didn’t wear maternity pants with my first pregnancy until ike 20 weeks… but as soon as I got the positive test with my second child I put those babies on!  Maternity pants are sooooooooo comfortable; no sense in holding out if you can wear them now.  πŸ™‚

I fumbled around with the rubber band around the button for a while and was uncomfortable all day.  At around 8 weeks, I was shopping for loose clothes, came across maternity jeans, thought F it!, and tried them on. I haven’t looked back since.  I totally plan to wear them post partum, and for every Thanksgiving from now on.

Don’t feel bad! At 6 weeks, it’s all just bloating and not baby, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be comfortable!

Luckily it’s been summer here so I have been wearing flowy summer dresses up until a week ago.  I can get into my non-maternity pants with ease (I’m one of the weird ones that lost weight in pregnanct), but just feel uncomfortable after an hour or so around the waistline if I have to sit.

I started wearing maternity pants around 9 weeks or so.  And I had only gained 1 pound at that point, my regular pants still fit, they were just so uncomfortable!!

However, I’m now 18w, gained 10 pounds, and still fit into my normal shirts and dresses just fine.  It’s just the things around my waist that are uncomfortable.

Don’t feel bad about it – just be comfy!

I needed maternity pants at 10 weeks, because I have to wear tailored things to work and can’t get away with maxi dresses and yoga pants.

Don’t feel bad.  You will need them eventually, so might as well get stuff early and get your money’s worth (and be comfortable).

I didn’t buy any until 6 months.  I wear yoga/workout pants all the time though.  I do have a couple of belly bands that I’ve used for a while though.

At 24 weeks, I can still fit into my regular clothes, but after buying maternity clothes at 20 weeks, and realizing how freaking comfortable they are, I’m wondering why I held out for so long.  I’ve pretty much completely made the switch over to maternity clothes now.

I started wearing them at about 10 weeks. Get a pair, they are MUCH more comfortable to be wearing 8-10 hours/day.

@apex:  Oh yeah, I’m 19w now and I’m still wearing mostly non-maternity tops. The pants were key though.

I couldn’t stand pants starting around Week 8, but wore dresses and skirts (thanks Ann Taylor Loft and Old Navy) pretty much round the clock until week 12 when I finally gave in.

Just go for it. There is NO reason to be uncomfortable. If you’re bloating, you’re bloating. Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s too early.
