Not TTC yet, but I went off it in August. I have issues with my period and we wanted it to regulate it self and have plenty of time to address other issues.

RunnerBride13:  not a clue! My first cycle was 65 or so days, my currently cycle is on day 99! my GP did say it could take awhile to regulate.. But I was expecting erratic, rather than predominantly absent periods. I actually have an appointment to see her again tomorrow, just to keep her in the loop and see if anything needs to be checked.

You?

mazzoffee:  I came off the pill 6 months before wanting to start TTC. Then, we decided to wait 3 more months due tohaving so many summer events.  We figured, why not be able to drink and have a few more months of fun before really TTC?  So, ended up being off for 9 months. We did, however, consider that could mean an “oops” along the way, which we would totally have been okay with.  My cycles came back immediately and pretty regularly, after over 10 years on the pill. I have friends who got pregnant right after coming off the pill, and others, who did not have regular periods before the pill and continued to not see regular periods after coming off the pill.  Different things can happen – for some, I’ve heard you are more fertile in the first few months coming off BC, while for others, it can take up to a year for cycles to regulate.  I think it’s nice to just be prepared for a variety of outcomes. For me, I gave myself several months off, just in case it would take awhile for my cycles to return or regulate.

diddles112230:  I have an appointment tomorrow too! maybe your tomorrow already happened though haha, mine is Wednesday. How did yours go? I’m suspicious I have hypothalamic amenorrhea since I am a runner and thin (though in the normal BMI range) with a history of an eating disorder. I’ll get some blood tests and see what’s going on, hopefully I won’t have to stop running all together.

I stopped in November because we planned on trying in January but I got my period right on time in December and we started trying after that period and I just found out Sunday that I’m pregnant!

RunnerBride13:  Hey Round Brilliant, how did you go? Unfortunately it would appear I have PCOS 🙁 no / erratic periods and >12 cysts per ovary. My GP has comfirmed the diagnosis, but I’m off to see my gynae in a few weeks to learn a little more about where to from here. I have no obvious physical symptoms (aside from mild acne, which I put down to coming off the pill.. not something else brewing!). In the meanwhile, I’ve gone straight back on the pill.. we won’t be TTC until we’re married, so not for at least 12-18 months. So glad I followed my gut instinct and came off the pill early to make sure everything was ok, otherwise we would’ve been 6 months in and wondering what was going on :/

diddles112230:  Ugh I’m sorry! Mine went as expected- I have hypothalamic amennorhea. My doctor said sometimes doctors (especially GPs) misdiagnose PCOS, so I would definitely see a specialist and get blood tests. Most people with true PCOS have other symptoms like aberrant hair growth. Anyway, I am still waiting for blood tests, but my uterine lining was basically invisible, which is due to low estrogen. I am going to cut back on exercise and try to gain some weight and see if I can get my period back on my own, otherwise it’s fertility drugs…
