We told work at 5 weeks because we all work really closely together and they knew we were doing infertility treatments. Its just our direct co-workers and our executive director for know. Other staff will find out closer to the 12-16 week range.

I told my boss just after 16 weeks. I was going to wait until 20 weeks but I was afraid I was beginning to show even though it’s my first so just decided to tell him. I told a few other people that same week and they all said they couldn’t tell yet so it must just have been obvious to me.

I actually just asked my HR Director (who is also my work BFF) what she did when she was pregnant. I am not sure if it varies state to state, but she told me that I am not obligated to tell my employer. Ever. There is not a specific timeline to tell your boss if you do not want to.

I really enjoy my workplace and feel comfortable letting my boss know I am expecting. I think I will tell my boss after my 8 week appt if all goes well (grow baby, grow!) but he is also very caring and will not care the slightest. And to be honest… I don’t care if he cares! LOL I am woman in my child bearing years with an education! I have the right to have a child as a please and not going to worry about what work says… 🙂

I told my previous boss around 10 weeks, or so. I had my first appointment at 13 weeks, and he was getting married and out on vacation for 3 weeks due to his honeymoon after that, so I felt it was needed before he was gone. He kept it quiet from the team, as I didn’t want them to know THAT early. I went public with the news (work and my own social life) at 14 weeks.

I also interviewed for a job when I was 18 weeks along. I actually mentioned it in my interview, and it didn’t seem to matter – as I got the job.

Both managers were great with the news.

I told work around 9 weeks–I was taking more sick time than normal and wanted him to know why, plus I work in a job that requires travel almost every week, and planning for my staffing and coverage options will take a while. I didn’t want to be given another project in January (as they were planning) just to leave 2 months later. He took it very well, and I just found out last week that he and his wife are also expecting!

I plan on telling my boss when I visit her in November…I will be almost 10 weeks. I work from home and report into another office that requires a flight, so I have to tell her before I show up next time with a big belly. 🙂

I waited until 16 weeks or so when I was actually starting to show a bit.

Last week at 24 weeks I told my boss and I’m planning on telling my coworkers in the next couple weeks. Just wait until you’re ready & comfortable.
