JLFinch :  I told my mom as soon as I got my BFP which was right around 4 or 5 weeks pregnant but we’re really close. We waited to tell DH’s parents until we heard the heartbeats.

I wouldn’t tell my parents until the 12 week mark. I loe them, but they seriously cannot keep a secret. They would tell the world out of excitement. Same for my IL’s….my Mother-In-Law would most definitely spill the beans out of excitement.

JLFinch :  It’s a hard decision. We waited until our 8 week appointment to tell my parents, but I miscarried two days before the appointment (my first pregnancy). I really wanted the support from my mother and it felt pretty awful calling to tell her that I had been and was no longer pregnant. To her credit she never put a single ounce of guilt onto me for not telling her beforehand.

Next time around I think I will share the news with my mother as soon as we find out, just so I have that support from day one.

And I tell my very best friend everything down to my last hiccup fit–so she knew, but she can keep a secret. We won’t be telling anyone else in our lives until well past the first trimester.

JLFinch :  I told my mom right away (at 4 weeks) because I knew she’d be understanding and supportive if I had a miscarriage. We are waiting to tell everyone else until after we get the results of the genetic screening (should be this week when I’m 11 weeks!) I love my dad and my Father-In-Law but I know they wouldn’t know how to help/be sensitive if something went wrong. My brother and sister-in-law will be having their first baby soon and I want to tell them when we know everything is (most likely) ok. It’s really a personal preference, though. You can tell whenever you and your husband feel comfortable!

I told mine the Sunday after my positive pregnancy tests. We see them every Sunday for dinner. I didn’t want to wait!

I’m similar to starfish0116 . We didn’t tell my parents until I was 11 weeks because my mother is the WORST blabber mouth! We told my hubbys parents when I was 10 weeks, so far they’ve only told 3 relatives…even though we speciifcally asked them not to tell anyone. Sigh.

We’ve told a few friends and our siblings. Next week after my 13 week appt with my midwife, we’ll let the whole world know 🙂

I told my mom a few days after we found out (definitely couldn’t wait!), and his parents a few weeks later.  His mom is a terrible secret keeper, and sure enough the news came out to some of her coworkers that she;s close to…but to her credit, none of his other family members found out before we told them.  I also told a few good friends pretty early on, ones that I knew I would lean on for support should anything happen.

We told our parents at 9 weeks, 3 days. We had our first ultrasound at 6w6d and everything looked perfect, but I was still nervous so we booked an elective ultrasound at 9w1d which I was so happy we did because it made me feel so much better. I had verrrrrrrry very few pregnancy symptoms, if any, so I was always scared something was wrong.  I would have told my parents if something had happened even if we hadn’t announced to them yet, for support. But it was nice feeling more confident myself before telling them all. But I also wanted to just tell everyone I was pregnant. Like I literally wanted to walk by strangers even and just be like “hey, i’m pregnant!”. hahahaha

I told my mom a week after I found out as I saw her in person. We didn’t tell my dad or his parents until after 13 weeks as they are all terrible secret keepers.

We told our parents at 13 weeks. No regrets. I would wait as long or longer next time, since my in-laws told everyone after we specifically asked them not to… And my dad drove me NUTS asking every day when he could start telling everyone (coworkers, his personal trainer, etc).

I’m sort of a private person, so all of that made me super uncomfortable.

We waited until just after 12 weeks when we were seeing them in person. We had already has a couple early losses at that point and I didn’t want to have a ‘list’ of people we would need to tell if there was another loss.  My Mother-In-Law was hurt that we waited that long, which was annoying but she’ll have to get over it (I would do the same thing all over again for our next child). My father was so so SO excited which confirmed the correct decision to wait as long as we did — he would have been beyond devastated if we had another loss and had to break the news to him.

JLFinch :  My mom was the third person I told (after DH and another bee) and it was literally about 30 minutes after finding out.  I was glad I did because she helped me through my feelings when I MCed.
