I told my Mom at 6 weeks, and I was dying to tell her sooner. We told my dad and my in-laws later that week. Kept it hush hush from everyone else until the 12 week mark.. I’m 17 +2 now, and I think my mom’s mailman even knows. haha!

I told my parents at 5 weeks. They were planning to come visit at Christmas and I wanted to give them the option to push their trip to June when I was due. Darling Husband told his parents when I was 8 weeks. We told other family after my first ultrasound at 11 weeks and other people at 12.

I told my parents the day after I found out. They knew we were trying and my mum told me to pee on a stick because I kept forgetting things which was her first symptom. She was coming over so I just left the test on the side and waited for it to catch her eye. It was quite fun! I then phoned my dad to tell him before she got home breaking it to him by giving him a list of DIY I need doing (long running joke with us) and saying it has to be done by March and it took him ages to work out why march.

DHs family we told at about seven weeks after I had a scan. We weren’t going to tell them until much later as we aren’t close to them but Darling Husband was excited and told people he knew so I said we had better before it got back to them through someone else. His grandparents were excited his parents we got a text saying “congratulations hope it goes well” you can just feel the joy!!

We told my parents at 5ish weeks and the in-laws at 14. For my mom (my dad was upstairs), we got a puzzle and put paint brushes and pink and blue paint swatches inside, and then put the plastic back on the box so the puzzle looked new. (My parents helped us paint our house when we bought it, so I always wanted to tell them that way). For the in-laws we got them grandma/grandpa mugs. Dear Daughter was their first grandchild.

I obviously recorded it.

We told my parents at 8 weeks after the dating ultrasound. We go out to eat with them often so it was pretty obvious when I stopped ordering wine with dinner anyway.

My inlaws we waited until after the NT scan and had the genetic screening back, so around 13 weeks.

Pregnancy #1 – we told my mom and dad at 8 weeks after an ultrasound and my inlaws right before our 12 week ultrasound.  Extended family after the 12 week ultrasound.

Pregnancy #2 – We told both our immediate families (parents and siblings) after our first ultrasound with no heart beat 🙁  It was sad but we needed the support.  It ultimately turned into a months long disaster and the whole family found out.  My family was super supportive, but my husbands family was all glass half full and its annoying because one year later we still aren’t pregnant again 🙁  Ultimately though, I prefer people to know because it stings when people who don’t know ask when we are going to have another.

<div style=”overflow: hidden; color: #000000; background-color: #ffffff; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;”>NEXT TIME – I will either tell after we see the heart beat on the ultrasound or wait until 12 weeks.  Depends on how anxious I am and how we plan to announce. (i.e. if I get pregnant now then it would be a holiday announcement so I might wait until then so I can tell family in person.)</div>

We told my parents/siblings and in-laws on the same evening, at 13 weeks. We had an early dinner with my family, then went to watch a movie with the in-laws at their place in the evening.

It was pretty funny, because we decided that we’d each be responsible for the “presentation” aspect for our respective families. I bought a custom onesie for my (then 1 year old) nephew, that had his name and “#1 Cousin” on it – my family were SO excited!

Then we get to the in-laws, walk in the door, and while they’re sitting on the couch my husband goes “Hey guys. Khaleesi’s pregnant.”

He’s a known jokester, so it took them a full two minutes (and a lot of looking at me for confirmation) before they even said anything, haha.

We are not pregnant right now (TTC next year) but as of now we plan on telling my parents around 8 weeks and my in-laws around 12 weeks, although I’m sure this can change. I’m gonna have a hard time waiting to tell my mom!
