My daughter was born at 38+2. I had no symptoms other than being extremely tired at 6pm the evening before. My water broke around 3am.

My daughter came right on her due date! Water broke in the middle of the night and everything went naturally.

My son was born at 36+6. My water broke at 5:30am, but it was just a trickle. No contractions, no cramping, no discomfort. He was born at 3:15pm the next day, but I was only in active labor for about 4.5 hours.

He came out perfectly healthy, aside from ABO incompatibility which all of our children will have, regardless of pregnancy length.

I wasn’t quite ready for him yet. I was uncomfortable but not to the point where I didn’t want to be pregnant anymore. Sometimes I feel like I was robbed of the final weeks, but I know it was only going to get much more uncomfortable, so I quickly let that thought go!

37 weeks via emergency c-section because of placenta failure. I’d been having contractions for 14 weeks though and was SO done. Looking back I wish he had been able to stay in a bit longer even though I was miserable. Though most of his complications are from the placental failure/blood loss/trauma, my son does have a few that are from being early, even though 37 weeks is considered early term.

40 + 3. Starting at around 38 weeks I was trying every trick in the book (spicy food, greasy food, eating dates, hopping up and down, long walks, etc) to try to get baby to come because I was so uncomfortable. Nothing worked until my mom arrived from overseas.  I went into labour the day she got here and it was fast at 6 hours, with only 3 hours in the hospital.

I was induced at 41+1…it never occurred to me that I would ever be overdue or induced but I remember just wanting the pregnancy to finally be over!

My son was 10 days overdue- born at 41+4, I think? The doctors were starting to talk about induction but I was really resistant and when my water broke but I wasn’t yet having contractions, I stayed home as long as I possibly could. I’d heard how much more intense the contractions were when you’re induced or they use pitocin to speed up the contractions, and I wasn’t trying to go there since I was hoping to do a natural birth. Then I got to the hospital and was all over that epidural (after dilating 3 cm in the course of about 10 minutes!). Unfortunately, they gave me two and neither of them worked! I’d heard of epidurals potentially having some crazy effects (people having a random numb spot or uneven numbing and the like) but it never occurred to me that it just wouldn’t work. That still trips me out!

38+6 natural labour and delivery. I was very ready to be done with being pregnant.

They say the due date is just an estimate. Would be more accurate to give a range of a couple of weeks I think because we get so caught up on the actual date.

My bub came at 40+6, I was kinda over it by the stage and just looking forward to bub being here and safe.

I definitely agree with making the most of your time without a newborn (mine is 7 months now).

Go see all the movies, get a massage, have long (not too hot) baths, get a mani pedi etc.

I also agree that bub knows when they are ready to come, a normal pregnancy can go up to 42 weeks easy. We are so concerned with it being 40 weeks and I think that leads to a lot of unnecessary inductions and further interventions.

Hope you can enjoy these next few weeks!

Congratulations on your baby!!!!

I just had mine 1.5 months ago and she was a total poke along who refused to leave. I had her at 41.1 and only because she was induced.

Baby came at 39+5, but I had a very quick labour, 0-10cm was only 5 hours!
