My son is 7.5 months and usually looks in whatever direction someone is calling him from, whether it’s his real name or one of his million nicknames. However, he usually turns to face whoever is talking at the time, so I’m not sure if he’s actually recognizing his name or just knows when someone is calling in his direction….

My DD is 7.5 months and I think she knows her name — I mean, she turns when I call her — but it’s not like she’s signing checks or anything. I wouldn’t worry about it … even Hodor knows his name and he doesn’t have a lot going for him mentally. She’ll get it eventually 🙂

Ours are 8 months and know theirs! It’s happened in the last two months or so, as I recall.

I think my DD was in the region of 7 months when she started responding to her name. Now at 13 months she completely ignores me when i call her name unless i have food!

The boy I nanny for learned his name right around 6-7 months. He would sort of acknowledge someone saying his name. Now, at 15 months, he will turn and look right at you when his name is even just mentioned in conversation.

Do you ladies always call them one name?? I’m kinda in the same boat as you OP… I’m worried because I call her so many different nicknames that maybe she gets confused?!
