My son is 4 months now and struggling to roll over, he tries and tries, but can’t quite manage. My baby book says that he should be able to now, so obviously I’m worrying that I haven’t given him enough tummy time (but he just hates being on his belly). When did your baby first roll over?

Tibbs: I think that’s about the time he started rolling over. He could only roll to his belly, but not back. He now rolling back at 6 months.
Honestly, I don’t pay close attention to milestones. My doc asks if he is doing such and such, and if she doesn’t say, “He should be doing this by now” I don’t sweat it. Most people give me a funny look at the fact that my baby cannot sit up by himself yet, but my doctor said it is perfectly normal. He will do it when he’s ready.
I would continue tummy time with your child and encourage him to roll over by helping him if he needs help. If you see he has a particular side he favors to try to roll over on, such as his right, lay at his right and encourage him with either your voice, toys, etc. He will get it and has plenty of time 🙂

My baby boy started rolling at 5 and a half months. I would try not to worry about it or compare. He will do it when he is ready 😉 one day when your changing his diaper and he is rolling you will think back on when he used to just stay still!!

Every babe does things at different paces, and usually they go from not being able to, to being experts at it in like a day. I wouldn’t worry. 🙂

Thanks ladies, I know it’s silly to worry so soon. It’s mostly the tummy time that worries me. He just hates it, and I know I should probably do it more. I want what is good for him, but also I want him to be happy.
