How long did it take your cycle to regulate after Mirena? When did you conceive after mirena?
And did you take it out yourself or did your doctor? FWIW, my doctor gave me instructions for removal if I am comfortable doing it myself. I’m not sure though. This is my second IUD and I’ve had an iud for 5 years.

I had a doctor take it out, I got it out in nocember and started charting immediately. We TTA (tried to avoid) for 6 months and we got pregnant our first cycle TTC. My cycles regulated right away with ovulation being cd 17 and whole cycle lasting approx 30 days. out son is 4.5 months now!

I am on my second Mirena IUD. I have never heard of removing it yourself and would never want to do that. eek.
Anyway, I plan on having mine removed this November, so posting to follow.
ETA: I googled it and people seem to just pull on their strings to remove it. While it seems simple, I still have no interest in doing it.

I had mine in the full 5 years, and removed it 3 years ago by my doctor. My cylce regulated almost immediately. I’d been on BC a good 12+ years (since high school) at that point and was worried I’d go back to the horrible heavy/crampy periods I had as a teenager. Suprisingly mine are super short (max 3 days) and pretty lite.
We haven’t been TTC since having mine remvoved, just using the pull-out method. However I will say my DH and I each travel a lot for work and so the number of times we’ve been together during my fertile window has been pretty small. We are starting TTC this cycle.

Mine was removed 5 days ago and the day after removal I started bleeding. I have been having quite a heavy period ever since now on my 4th day bleeding. I never had a single spot of blood with Mirena in but I had other issues with it – like severe abdominal cramps & stabbling pains so I had to get it removed. I will never get another again!!! I am not sure if I have got my period because of the hormone levels dropping but I am geussing next month I will be back to normal bleeds etc.

I had my doctor take it out — I can’t imagine doing it myself. I’d be too scared that I’d pull it the wrong way and rip something (or wimp out knowing it’s gonna hurt haha). My cycle regulated pretty much immediately after removal — I got my first AF in a while roughly 2 weeks after removal and it has been pretty regular (within a day or two) ever since.

Ive had mine out since january of 2015 and while i would like to say its becoming more predicatble ( PMS symptoms, around that time i am supp to get it according to my tracker, etc) its still not regular. My cycles go from 18 days to (the longest) 43 days. At first i had horrible bleeding, cramping, some clotting, headaches, rediculous fatigue, and horrid PMS to the point i thought i was loosing my mind and was embarrased at how i acted after the fact. The PMS, bleeding, headaches, etc have subsided now to close to what was my normal before i got the mirena.

This actually interests me as well. I just got a Skyla placed a month ago due to migraine with aura on birth control pills. Before hormonal birth control I had very regular periods as well as regular periods while on the pill. But since I got my IUD placed I haven’t had a period. On day 32 right now. I know it’s normal to not get your period on the IUD but this never happened to me on the pills either. A few days ago I had 5 minutes of spotting with bright red blood and was very mucosy. IDK if that was actually my period or just IUD spotting? It was over so quickly. Sorry for Too Much Information. Just adjusting to this new method I suppose. No other symptoms besides cramping off and on so I really don’t think I could be pregnant either.

4 months for my monthly cycle to go back to normal. I didn’t start my period for 8 weeks after it was taken out. I had mine taken out by my doctor. Personally I wouldn’t advise taking it out yourself especially if you’re planning on concieving because you could cut/infect yourself by accident.
