I’m 8 weeks pregnant..one of my first symptoms were extreme sense of smell. I’ve always had a good nose but now these smells make me gag. My husband has been into making Asian teas he stores for the past 2 months and my whole fridge smells like it that I haven’t even been able to open it for 2 weeks without gagging. Even the plastic bag that I keep my butter in smells like this gross tea he keeps brewing. Also, the people who live in the apartment underneath cook nasty food every night that seeps into our apartment and also makes me gag and subsequently vomit…cabbage, fried steak, fish, etc. When did your prgnancy nose go away? Was it only during the first trimester? Whole prgnancy? After the baby was born? Help! I’m going to have to buy an oxygen mask to wear in my own house.

Mine went away at the end of the first trimester, around 12 weeks, I think. I don’t miss it!

Mine stayed until about 18 weeks… ugh!

Is he making kombucha? Mine went away after a few weeks in the 1st trimester.

hmmm, that is a difficult one, I can’t remember when mine went cause it was only o er Christmas around funny cheeses that I noticed it, however someone I used to work with has two boys who are near teenage years and she apparently still has hers just not quite as badly as it was before. Hopefully it won’t last long and your be enjoying smells again

Mine lasted my whole pregnancy. It wasn’t that strong the last month but it was still there.

My super sense of smell lasted most of my pregnancy – I stopped finding normal smells gross at about 13 weeks luckily!

Mine stuck around until about 18 weeks, and then made a comeback once in awhile. But I remember by 20 weeks I could open the fridge without vomitting. Good luck, I know how terrible it is!

27 weeks, still have the super sense of smell, but no longer sickened by every little thing.

the prego nose is the worst!! Mine was at it’s peak from 7-14 weeks. I’m almost 30w now and it’s gone for sure, I think once the nausea went away my nose was less sensitive. Hang in there – this isn’t a fun time, but try to remember the worse you feel, the better baby is doing 😉

Currently 14 weeks pregnant. I used to feel like I had a nose that would make a bloodhound jealous! While my sense of smell is still ‘heightened’ it has calmed down enough that I can at least cook dinner and open my fridge without feeling like I needed to fumigate my house!
The most heartbreaking ‘smell thing’ was I couldn’t STAND the smell of my beloved 14 year old cat (who was a ‘lap kitty’ pre pregnancy). About last week (13 weeks) her scent started being ‘tollerable’ again.

Still have super sensitive nose at 30 weeks.

It either went away (or I got used to it) roughly around the second trimester. It definitely can suck. My husband has a book about how to deal with your pregnant wife, and in it it refers to the fact that pregnant women get the least cool super power – an incredible sense of smell – boo 😛
