I say by Feb/March 2013 to give the designer time to make it. Then yourself incase something isn’t correct. Thats just me:)

@bump:  That depends on how you are planning on getting it. I think most people suggest 6-8 months before the wedding, but a lot of that depends on how long it takes for the designer to make the dress. Alterations are usually at 6,4, and 2 weeks from the wedding. Some designers take 6 months to make the gown, others are done in 3. And then if you do what I did (purchase used) it just takes time to ship, so I got my dress a year and a half before the wedding because it shipped in 3 days and I did not think I would find it 3 days into searching. I would not do what I did unless you are aboslutely positive you won’t change your mind about the dress because dress regret is expensive. So I think that adds up to January next year?

You want to be safe than sorry. Depending on the gown you decide on purchasing along with whatever detail or design it may take awhile. Therefore, I advise you to purchase it at least six months ahead. I recently purchased mine and did not realize how long it actually takes. Glad I found the one when I did because I was told it would take five months just to come back. You have plenty of time just start thinking about the styles you want. Good luck finding that perfect dress. Wink

@bump:  Since you have time, I would definately keep looking until you find something you like more. And if you get confused from seeing too many things you can take a month off and look again later.
