I’m getting married the week after you and I am sending out the invitations in 2 weeks. I think I’m probably a bit early, but we did not send out save the dates and we will be out of the country for a couple of weeks in July- so I’m hoping to get final numbers before we leave!

A lot of people take vacations in August, so I’d send them soon if you want most of your guests to be able to make it.
I’d also start spreading the word about the date if I wasn’t sending out Save-The-Date Cards just to be on the safe side. People who have to fly will appreciate the time to look for deals.

I’d say anywhere between 8-6 weeks beforehand, unless you’re expecting a lot of out-of-state people. Then maybe 10 weeks for that.

2-3 months before the date.  We have a lot of people travelling from out of state, so we’re doing three months (but we also sent save the dates).  Since you didn’t so a save the date, I would stay closer to the three month mark than the two.

I plan to send my invitations 8 weeks before the ceremony. Like you, I’m also not doing save the date cards. However, I’ve contacted everyone I plan to invite to give them an informal heads up about the date of the wedding. Just a phone call or an email ssaying “yay! I finally got a date for my wedding!” is all it takes 🙂

I sent mine early April for a June 21 wedding (so about 2 1/2 months). Between engagement and wedding we had just under 6 months, so we couldn’t get stuff together quick enough for Save-The-Date Cards (plus I think they are a waste of money). We have a lot of people coming from states away, so they appreciated having all the details finished and sent to them.

I think the 6-week timeline – though it’s what “etiquette” dictates – is unrealistically last-minute. I also needed the real guest count to plan my budget, so I couldn’t wait!

I think timing matters. My wedding will be in February so I want to send mine out and have RSVPs back well before the Christmas rush.
