Well I haven’t gotten to this point yet…..but my sister has so I can tell you from her experience.

Her wedding is coming up in August – she was told by salons that it takes about 3 to 4 months for a bridesmaid dress to come in so hers was actually ordered in February – we are getting our dresses in May with just enough time in case alternations are needed.

You aren’t until Dec 2014 so honestly you have plenty of time just like me. To look for dresses I don’t think you need everyone with you or else it would be a headache…my sister only took a few girls at a time with her because everyone was so busy. The day we picked the dress it was just me and another girl with my sister trying out dresses at another shop. But we brought the dress from the store she got her bridal gown at since we got a percentage off and everyone had to be there for that so they can get fitted correctly.

id say ASAP . things go wrong with them – i ordered mine online and they were too small so had to re-order, then the alterations lady messed up in a major way – she cut up my bridesmaid dress. yes. true story. so id order them in asap- – try get bigger sizes cos taking in is way easier than taking out. or take the girls dress shopping. good luck!! 😀

I did Dessy dresses for exactly that reason – everyone could try them on at salons nearby. I picked out ten relatively similar dresses that came in my color/fabric and then let each girl pick one out. Giving them so many options ensured that they’d be able to try at least a couple on. However, after they picked out their dresses, I ordered them all together from one place so I would risk differences in the dye lot.

I would recommend waiting until a bit closer to your wedding before ordering dresses though, because you never know when a girl might end up pregnant, gaining/losing weight, etc.

If you are doing Dessy look up shops in their area and send each Bridesmaid or Best Man the info for the shop and the dresses your are looking for. Then give them a date to get back to you by with whatever options you’re giving them to choose between.

Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses were the most stressful part of wedding planning for me, so I would recommend getting it done sooner rather than later.
