Our wedding is June 8th, I had our RSVP date as May 1st….I still haven’t gotten back about 1/2 of our RSVPs. Our venue needs final count 10 days before the wedding. I understand the mail can take forever sometimes…at what date is it appropriate or acceptable to contact people regarding their RSVP?

if your final date for head counts is May 30th, I would start calling on May 15th. If people from across the country put the RSVP’s in the mail on the deadline, and the mail service sucks at life (which it does), it may take a week to get to you. I don’t think it would be unreasonable to start calling on Monday though, if you just want to be ahead of the game.

You can really start any time after the RSVP date, but I think a lot of brides add an extra week in case anybody’s RSVP is still in the mail.

I sent follow-up emails the day after our RSVP deadline, then the next day I received the two main ones I was looking for in the mail. They had mailed them the day before the RSVP date, which takes at least 2 days to get from their state to ours, plus our mail is slow at times. I felt somewhat bad following up so quickly, but then I thought, it is past the RSVP date, and they did not reply in time, so there is no harm in contacting them. We received a lot of ours the week of the RSVP Date.

I would start calling two weeks before the final head count is due to the venue. Try not to follow up with Facebook and e-mails. Call the people and ask them. We made the mistake of doing e-mail for a few people, and they never got back to us. Once we called it was a quick, 5 minute phone call and we got our answer.
