I think people usually buy wedding gifts around the time of the shower or wedding. For some reason, people usually wait until the last minute.

because there is no  hurry.. it’s not like there is going to be a sale or something you want like on black friday. it’s a gift.

Except for you, no one counts down to your wedding at this point. There’s still plenty of time…
I usually buy a gift in the few days before the wedding.

I buy most gifts 1-3 weeks before the wedding, unless it is a BFF that I know wants something very specific from me, in that case I would grab it off the registry sooner rather than later.

We started getting gifts last October as engagement presents, but for a shower gift, I would purchase probably 2 weeks before (online) and have it shipped to me so I could wrap it and bring it to the shower. For a wedding, I’d purchase close to the wedding date because I do everything online and do not bring gifts to weddings.

We are 16 days out and have received only a handful of wedding gifts. I’m not a greedy person, I’m just wondering if all these people are bringing their gifts to the wedding. We have around 150 people coming. Married Bees, what did you experience? I’ve heard that gifts really start rolling in the two weeks before the wedding. We have a few more days before we reach the two-week mark.

I got most of my gifts at the shower, mostly cards at the wedding, and some gifts were delivered in person after the wedding.  For weddings and other events, I do my shopping the weekend or two before.

Since the registry is for both the shower and the wedding, it is impossible to say for everyone. Invites are not sent out till 2 months before the wedding (and shower invites are typically sent out after the wedding invites), so most will be purchased between 2 months and 1 week before the wedding, including shower gifts.

@Marydittydith: In my hometown, people always bring the gifts with them to the wedding. So I think that rule is very reigonal. Also, we tend to gift cash gifts in cards at the wedding to couples that are over 25 as somehow we feel that they probably have their home set up.
