Depending on where you are located I was just told last weekend that the guys needed to order by this week.  I am in Toronto and we are getting into the heart of wedding and prom season so we ordered them last weekend.  I also went for my first dress fitting yesterday and my dress will be ready to be picked up the middle of May!

I’ve heard that they can pretty much go anytime up to a week before!  They’re lucky in that the clothes are pretty much the same!

And normally there are 3 fittings, 6 weeks out, 4 weeks out, and 1-2 weeks out

I’m getting married June 18 and I gave the guys until April 30 to get fitted. I worked in men’s formalwear for 2 years and it really just depends where you go. If it’s a smaller tux shop you’ll want them to get measured earlier to make sure that their size is held for them. Smaller tux shops do unfortunately have the possibility of running out of a certain size or style. If it’s a larger place like The Men’s Wearhouse it isn’t a huge deal to have them wait until the last minute because even if they run out of a size they would just invest in it knowing they’ll use it again. If you are using a larger place though I’d think about you and when you’d feel good about having it all taken care of. The last 2 or 3 months you might be stressing a lot and it would be one less thing you have to worry about. And I’d probably tell them their deadline is about a month before you actually want them fitted because some guys like to procrastinate.

Oh and I’m having my first fitting this Friday at a private seamstress but David’s told me I could come in up to a week before.

The advantage for you getting married in July is that most schools are probably on summer vacation by then (schools are just letting out when I get married so there might still be a lingering prom or two) so you won’t have to worry about peak prom season interfering with your tuxes. If you are using a smaller tux shop though I’d encourage the guys to get in there ASAP.
