So I know that the train is out for the ceremony and that the dress is bustled at the reception, but when exactly do you have someone bustle your dress? Before you leave the church? When you get to the reception hall? I’m doing some short pictures at a park between the ceremony and reception, should the train be out or should the dress be bustled then?
Past brides, what did you do?
future brides, have you thought about this at all?

We did pictuers before the ceremony, so I bustled right after the ceremony during cocktails. I asked my aunt to do it for me, so she came to my final fitting to learn how to do it. Her and my mom came in to our little private room and bustled me while my husband ate bacon wrapped scallops with our photographer.
We took pictures of just the two of us once I was bustled because I wanted to go outside and not drag it all over the dirt. I also loved the way my bustle looked.

I bustled my dress before we were announced at our reception.

I bustled mine after some pictures after the ceremony. I had it bustled for our first look pictures.

I bustled after the ceremony, before we took photos with our families (we’d done photos of the two of us before the ceremony). I’d agree with those who say leave it undone for photos of the two of you, even if it gets a little dirty at the hem–no one notices your hem during the reception.

Mine is actually staying bustled the whole time. I didn’t want a train. But didn’t want them to chop it in case I did in fact want it.

- Wedding: June 2012 - Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards
We put a “bridal party refresh” at the end of cocktail hour, which is outside.
