Well there can be.  I think the standard time is like 8 months.  I haven’t gotten them yet though.  One girl took the initiative and ordered hers and now I’m freakin out because I’m afraid they’ll run out by the time the others get theirs.  As long as you don’t have an stock issues, or flightly BM’s that may just not be able to attend the wedding you should be ok.  Or, like in my case, I almost ordered them but then my Bridesmaid or Best Man got pregnant so she doesn’t know her size.

@Kittyachi: You’ll be fine.  I gave my BMs a “fake” deadline of Thanksgiving and not one single girl has ordered anything.  I’m going to get on them to be ordered by January (my original plan anyway)

I knew my BMs are flakey so I had to set up stupid fake deadlines to get them moving.

Our wedding was in September, and I had my girls order their dresses by the end of March to make sure everything was okay with them. They arrived at the end of June, so they had plenty of time to get them altered, find shoes, etc. I think that as long as you have them all order around the same time (within a month of each other), y ou can order them anytime under a year from your wedding.

A fake deadline hahaha that’s so funny! I know I will have an issue with this since I will prob change my mind a thounsand times. If you KNOW what you want have them buy them right away since they might not have any when the date is closer.

It all depends. One bm ordered hers from a wedding salon so she needed to do this at least 4 months before the wedding.

Some of my other bms ordered theirs from nordstroms.com, so they did this literally less than a month before the wedding.

I think it depends on what type of dress you’re going for and where you plan to buy it.

I think it definitely depends on the kind of store you are planning to order from

-Nordstrom, White House Black Market, etc. could probably get you a dress in a week

-David’s Bridal & Alfred Angelo don’t need a whole lot of time either (from what I remember from a friend’s wedding) I would say maybe a month or two?

-A lot of privately owned bridal boutiques/salons will have to order from the designer so it could take 4 months to get a dress in

I would definitely suggest looking early though. There was a lot of indecision and then it took several weeks for everyone to get their order placed even after we had picked the dress.
