I don’t take it off to just wash my hands, that’s gross, taking it off to wash your hands equals putting all that bacteria you just washed off your hands back on via ring. The ring needs to get cleaned too.

I take it off to shower so it doesn’t tangle in my hair. I take it off while working out so it doesn’t pinch my skin or knock against the equipment. I also take it off if doing anything really messy like painting or gardening, etc.

I was devastated to be told to take my ring off by a ‘friend’ before an interview the other day. The un-married woman told me that a girl came for an interview at their work during the week and everybody LAUGHED at how ridiculous she was to wear it. It was so nasty. I was speechless.

I work in a hospital and take off my engagement ring only as it tears the gloves but i leave on my wedding ring. My point is, my e-ring is more than a piece of Jewellery to me, its a part of me and my now husband and I are SO proud of it, besides it being the most expensive thing I own! I was so offended!

Is it protocol now to take off an engagement ring for an interview?!

I voted “other” because i usually don’t wear it at all. Firstly, I’m lefthanded, and I really hate having rings on that hand. But it is moreso because I work in a veterinary anatomy lab and do a lot of very dirty work. I don’t want the symbol of our undying love to be contaminated with cadaver particles. So I do sometimes wear it around my neck, but I just don’t wear it often at all in general.

I take mine off when I get home from work.  Thats when I go to the gym,  cook dinner,  clean the house.  I just put it in the box first thing when I walk in the door.

For anything that requires my hands to get wet/dirty, I remove my ring. I purchased a necklace that has a pendant with a clasp to easily slip my ring on it. I use it so much it’s ridiculous. Best purchase ever!

I considered removing my engagement ring at night, but decided against it. It felt weird without it. Once my fiancé proposed it took some adjusting to just wearing my ring. The size of the band and setting on the sides took some getting used to. I’d hate to have to readjust to wearing it again. The sides of my middle finger and pinkie took a beating. Lol.

I ALWAYS wear the e-ring! I figure it’s made of durable materials and is so pretty! Taking it off runs the risk of losing it at some point.

MrsTortoise:  thats so weird because i saw something on like the history channel or somethng the other day that ina  job interview the bigger ur engagement stone the more likely they are to offer you more money for the same job as someone with a smaller stone because they think  you would not take a lower offer…

    interesting..
