You should send thank yous as soon as the gift arrives, and you should cash checks as soon as you receive them! People may be wondering if you received it or if it got lost in the mail. I think it’s rude to sit on checks, as people need to reconcile their bank accounts! Sending thank yous sooner also gives you less work to do later 🙂

Send them out ASAP. It is never too early to send out thank yous. I honestly expect a thank you within two weeks. I consider anything after that to be really late. If someone takes the time  and money to buy you a gift, the least you can do is send them a thank you in a timely manner.

@GamersBride:  I definitely don’t think the thank yous have to match the invite suite. In fact, I’m pretty sure most people’s don’t.

@GamersBride:  Write the thank you note and deposit the check!! It is messing up your guest’s checkbooks. Seriously, I would be pissed if you waited until you returned from your honeymoon to cash my check.

I have written all my thank you notes the day I got the present.

@GamersBride:  My thank yous don’t match. I just bought a box from Target and other one from ebay. I wasn’t going to waste money on matching thank yous.

i would send out the thank yous right away.  As long as the cheques aren’t post dated go ahead and cash them – you can sit on the money until after the wedding.  It’s one of my biggest pet peeves when people don’t cash cheques right away.

Either send them out now, or write them now and send them out the day of the wedding!

Good to know.  I have been to four weddings three months ago and haven’t received a thank you card from any of them.  I will be sure not to make this mistake for my wedding.

@GamersBride:  I sent out all of my bridal shower thank you notes about 2 weeks after my shower. Some I sent eariler because they were already done. I had 35 women at my shower so it took a little while to get them all done between working full time and planning my wedding.

@Autumnsnow:  I had that happen to me. I went to one wedding in October and I received their thank you picture in January!

@june2013bride:  Better late than never?  One of the weddings I went to had a typed up generic thank you card placed on everyone’s reception plate.  Perhaps that was the thank you card for that wedding?
