It varies – implantation can occur anywhere from 6-12DPO, and hCG doesn’t begin to be produced until 24-48 hours after that.  That’s the hormone that tests register to determine positive/negative.  I started testing at 7PO this cycle (my first) and I’ll never do it again.  I don’t think I’ll test again before 12DPO because it’s just a waste of time and tests.

ETA: Good luck on your TTC journey, baby dust to you!! 🙂

With dd I tested really early and squinted at a lot of pee.

This time I just waited for my missed period. It’s nice seeing that dark line lol.

tm6173 :  I have IVF babies so with my first I tested 13DPO (wanted to be sure my trigger shot was out of my system and didn’t give me a false positive) and with my current pregnancy it was the 12DPO equivalent (7 days after frozen embryo transfer). I’ve seen too many negative pregnancy tests in my life and learned waiting is better than the risk of a false negative.

tm6173 :  Then in that case, ZERO, LOL!  I’ve tested every day since 7DPO and I’m now 11DPO, today’s the first day I managed to resist  the urge.   Man, it is hard!!

Imo before 10 dpo is a huge waste. The stick is just gonna say, “too early still”!!

I was going to wait until I missed my period, but I was having symptoms so I tested at around 10DPO. Mainly because we were doing a bunch of stuff that day that I knew would involve a lot of drinking, so I wanted to be sure before I did a second day of drinking (the day before was 3 events of drinking!)

With my first, I tested at 11DPO and I was SURE I was pregnant. Had been having crazy thirst like I’d never had before since like 8DPO. It was the faintest of squinters, but much more clear at 12DPO.

With my second, I decided I would also test at 11DPO ‘just to compare’ if I actually was pregnant, but this time I didn’t really think I was. I had been having similar symptoms but from like 4DPO which is clearly too soon and was just my brain messing with me haha. It was much more noticeable. When I did my betas at 14 and 16DPO, they were almost double my first pregnancy, which made sense based on the lines.

I have read that the most common day for implantation is 9DPO, so I probably wouldn’t bother before 10, but 11 has worked for me both times. However my friend has had positives on 8/9 DPO for her pregnancies, so if you don’t mind potentially wasting tests then have a party!

I had zero chill when we started trying back in February. If you’re like me, buy the internet cheapies but realize that they aren’t as sensitive as the FRER.

I am currently pregnant and I managed to wait until 8dpo to first test and it was stark white. When I tested on 9dpo, there was a tiiiiiiiiiny shadow, at which I tested on a FRER and there was a very faint but clearly visible line.

    Good luck!

tm6173 :  I started with the cheapies, because it was much easier to justify throwing away a strip that cost me cents on the dollar.  But each time they came back negative I’d get really down, even though I knew it was soooo early – I’d just read about these other women getting early positives that I thought for sure, I would too!  But obviously it’s different for everyone, which I know in my right mind – it’s hard to resist that temptation.

My new rule for myself is to at least wait a day in between testing so that if there IS a line of any kind, at least I can see some sort of obvious difference.  I’ve kept all my old tests like a crazy person, hehehe.

I spent years trying to get pregnant and hate to think how much I spent on tests. Eventually I wouldn’t test until 14dpo and only if I wasn’t spotting … only time that happened I was pregnant lol

I said 9 dpo in case implantation happened early. I’m very impatient sometimes. Then I’ll keep testing every two days, so 11 dpo and around 13 dpo in case my temperatures remain high which is unlikely if my period is coming.

In my last two pregnancies, I have gotten a positive on 12 dpo and 9 dpo. Anything is possible!
