When I was engaged to my ex husband, (I was only 19 at the time) I went hiking through the Laurel Mountains, and went rock climbing. Well, I banged the hell out of the gold, bent it, and chipped a small diamond. The ring was already pretty bad quality altogether and we never got it fixed…well not that that has much to do with this thread LOL but, now that I’m engaged to the man I was meant to be with … …I take my ring off when I shower/bathe, do dishes, cook raw meat, and clean with chemicals. I used to be a nurses aid in hospitals and nursing homes and my finger would get raw from soap and stuff getting stuck between my ring and finger. I put my ring in a bowl on the window sill in the kitchen, and on a shelf in my bathroom. I sleep with it on. I also ALWAYS take it off when I put on lotion. That will gunk the hell out of your rings!! I’d loooooooooooove to have a pretty ring bowl for it though!
I have to take mine off all the time. I’m slightly allergic to it so if I don’t it really bothers me. I take it off when I shower, cook, sleep, put lotion on, work out, clean, drive, and random times during each day. I have several specific places I put it instead of just one spot. Some days I’m more allergic to it than others so I wear it around my neck, unless it bothers my neck.
I take mine off as soon as I get home and it also goes in it’s pretty ring box that it came in.
I take my e ring off whenever I’m washing my hands, putting on makeup/ lotion, painting my nails, cooking, cleaning, and when I sleep and shower.
When I’m in the kitchen I’ll just put it on the bench I know, it’s bad! I keep it in my jewelry box when I’m cleaning, showering and sleeping.
I really want to find something to keep it on/in- my habit of just putting it on the table or bench is so bad…
I never take mine off…and I’m a hairstylist…and it’s about 20 years old…
It goes through shampooing, colouring, chemicals and then day to day stuff at home and never had a problem. I get it cleaned every few months.
I take it off when I do my hair or cook messy things. I have a box for it but I usually put it on a tray in my bathroom whenever I take it off
I never take mine off. If I do take it off I put it back in it’s box.
Mine has its own dedicated special fancy box. When it is not on my finger, it is in that box.
It has to be a box rather than a tray or anything like that since we have pets that chase each other around and regularly knock things down. If they knock the box down, the ring will not be lost. It will also not be harmed because the box is cushioned in all directions.
My jeweler told me to always take it off when I’m sleeping, because that’s the most common time to lose stones. My ring is insured and the jeweler will replace any lost stones for free, but still. I also take it off when I’m washing particularly grimy dishes or when I’m showering or putting on lotion. Other than that I never take it off. I hate to take it off.
Right now I just put it on my bedside table when I take it off, but im registered for a beautiful Waterford ring holder I’m REALLY REALLY hoping someone buys for me. 😉
I dont like wearing rings at home. I take it off pretty much as soon as I get home, and I have a jewelry holder that I keep it on. Its technically made for necklaces, but I just hang my rings on it.
I take mine off about 30 minutes a day at work when and filing because I can’t fit my fingers in and out of the folders quickly with it on. And I take it off when I’m kneading bread dough. That’s it. I wear it while sleeping, showering, swimming, gardening, cooking, and anything else.
Also FYI,people, please don’t store your valuable jewelry in jewelry boxes! That’s the first place a burglar will look. Food pantry, inside a ratty old pair of running shoes, inside a decoy box of tampons, really, who is gonna touch your stinky old shoes, or sort through your tampons when looking for valuables?
