When I shower, bake (only when using my hands to knead or something just as messy), and when I use harsh cleansers when I clean. I keep ring holders in the bathroom and kitchen to make sure my rings are safe.

Is there a reason why everyone takes their ring off to shower and wash the dishes??? Is it harmful to the ring??? I always thought of it as a bath for my ring, it’s always super shiny when I’m done!!! My ring is on 24/7 (even when I sleep), I only take it off when handling raw meat. Wore it once while making turkey burgers…lesson learned!!!

Before I go to the gym I put it in it’s little box on my nightstand. I also take it off to shower, garden, put on hair care or makeup products (which is more of a getting goop stuck under the ring than it is about damaging it), and to sleep. Well… Most of the time I remember to take it off before bed. But since I don’t have any pave stonework I don’t necessarily need to pamper it. I just put it in the box it came in and it sits right there next to the little covered dish mom painted for me and the picture of my brother.

SexyLove804:  I don’t know about everyone else but getting my hand soapy and wet usually makes my ring want to slide around more. I take it off to shower so I don’t have to worry about it slipping off and disappearing down the drain.

I take mine off when I sleep, because my stone is set high and I don’t want it to catch on anything and twist the setting, and when I shower (drains) and exercise (I’m in the process of losing weight and my ring is already a little loose on me; I certainly don’t want it flying off accidentally onto a treadmill!). I’ve already had one mishap where I had to have it sent back to the jewler to have a stone reset, so I’m trying to lessen the chances of something happening again.

Almost never. I waited to long for it too not wear as much as possible.  I only take it of when:

– I’m styling/washing my hair

– Washing dishes

– Cooking with raw meat

– Applying lotion to my body

But that’s it.  I even sleep with the thing on.

I leave my wedding band on all the time except for when I put on lotion, cleaning, or at the gym-it is a half eternity. I have a stand in, cheap ring I wear when working out. My engagment ring I take off for dirty cooking (raw meats, etc.), cleaning, showering, lotion, when I don’t feel like it etc. If I’m staying home for the day, I will most often wear just my wedding band and leave my enagement ring in the holder next to my bed. My rings only ever go in that holder so I know exactly where they should be if they are not on my hand.

I wear my set all the time except for when I’m doing something that will get stuff caught in it (working with raw meat or dough). But I found out last night that maybe I should wear it a bit less. I was cleaning under the bed and a prong on my e-ring caught the carpet, flipped up, and then broke off. It’s at the ring doctor now for 2 weeks. So I may start taking it off when I clean from now on…

I basically only take my rings off when I’m doing something that would get them really messy – on a daily basis, this includes lotioning and using other beauty products after my shower (because it would get my pave ring all goopy).

When I do something that will scratch the band, like rock climbing or digging in the dirt. Also when I make dough or mess with ground meat. Other than that, it’s always on!

I’ve only had mine since Friday and it hasn’t left my finger yet. I use gloves for washing up and cleaning so it protected in there.

When I first got engaged, it was a half size too small so I took it off when I slept so I didn’t wake up with it stuck on my finger. Now that it’s sized to fit, I sleep with it on.

I used to always take it off to shower and wash my hands or do anything near a drain. The soapyness and gaping hole underneath just freaked me out. It looks like a gaping giant home when that ring is new, I swear. As time wears on, I have become less paranoid and tend to only take it off about half the time to wash my hands or shower.

I take it off if I’m doing anything that has potential food contamination. Raw anything, anything I stick my hands in and touch.. That’s just plain old good food safety, not to mention I have no desire to expose something I wear everyday to salmonella haha.

And to clean it!  With a toothbrush 😉 not over the sink though!!
