I never take my rings off, and I have 39 stones total in my e-ring! I’ve lost a medium sized stone in one year. Luckily I have a lifetime protection plan that has the store replace any lost stones for free. With my initial e-ring, the center stone was so large and only held by four prongs in white gold and yes, it did come loose constantly. I could have invested in securing it with additional prongs or a metal frame around it but I decided to go with a diamond ring becaue the quartz was also getting scratched. For me, rhodium-plated white gold turns yellow in one month because of my skin chemistry. I had the shank of my diamond e-ring made in platinum to solve that problem!

When I’m working out and when I shower.

I worked with bleach and a lot of chemicals at my last job, but I wasn’t engaged then, but I would never have worn my ring at that job.

Honestly tough….I want to wear this all the time 🙂

I take off my ring before sleeping, showering, making food, and washing my hands (except in a public place).

I take mine off Monday morning and it stays in a safe until Friday night. I work as a family therapist and do home visits and sometimes I’m going into not so great neighborhoods so I feel better with it locked up at home. When I get home Friday night, Fiance goes and gets it out of the safe and puts it back on my finger. I hate that I can’t wear it to work but I get that butterfly feeling when he puts it on my finger every Friday night. Kiss

I take mine off when I lay down at night. I  put it back on right before I leave to go anywhere. So basically I don’t bath or sleep with it on  but I do wear it on the beach and in the pool lol.

I take my ring off anytime my hands are going to get wet, when I’m putting on lotion, and when I need to clean it. On hot nights I take it off because my fingers swell. I’m sure that I will stop taking it off to wash my hands eventually.

I immediately take mine off when i get home and put it in one, secure location (that way im not risking losing it). So worried of damaging it!

I generally take my ring off when I walk in the house. I also do not wear it to do any cleaning, when I am taking a shower or when I go to bed. It goes right back into the ring box when I take it off. I do not workout with it on either (I generally lift weights, swim and do other high movement exercises, so it is just easier). I have not had any issues with the stone being loose, but then again I have only had it for 3 months.

I had to take my promise ring off for Kendo, becuase it can get damaged and damage you if a sword drives in into your hand. I took it off for dancing becuase it can scratch the guys or spin round and scratch me. I took it off at work if I was working int he fresh food departments becuase that is regulation. I took it off when I was kneading dough (if I remember) becuase it is hard to clean otherwise. And I took it off when I was scrubbing some hard dirt off my hands incase I should knock a stone out.

But I wore it to bed and in the shower. To be honest I hated having it off and it took me weeks to stop fiddling with an imaginary ring. And when he gives it back I’m sure it will be the same.

I take it off when I sleep, shower, do anything that gets my hands dirty, and anytime it could get damaged or lost. I’m so paranoid about something happening to it. It’s insured, so it could be replaced, but the replacement wouldn’t be the ring my fiancé proposed with, which is why it’s so special.

I only wear my ring when I’m out of the house.  I put it on right before I leave and take it off right after I get home.  I actually don’t like the sensation of a ring on my finger – I didn’t wear rings before getting engaged.

I very rarely take mine off…just once to clean it, and a few times for pictures of it.

@melisande:  Me too!

I work from home, so I pretty much only wear my ring like one day a week.  And if I’m just running to the grocery store, I’m probably not going to bother putting it on!

Don’t get me wrong, I love my ring, I think for me its more of a “I want it to stay looking nice so there’s no reason to wear it in casual settings just to ding it up” kind of thing for me.

My sister NEVER takes her ring off.  Its all dinged up and full of scratches.  That would so totally bother me!!

iI take my engagement ring off before go to sleep and put it back on after I shower and do my hair (I don’t want to get gel in my ring or my ring caught in my hair) I will also take it off to put on lotion and handle raw meat. When I take it off, it goes right onto my ring holder, and then right back on my hand when I’m ready.

I get my ring checked every 6 months to make sure the prongs/stone are all okay. And I clean it every Friday (with warm water and mild dish soap, as directed by my jeweler) I check my ring then.
