i’m just curious because i’ve heard a few bees talk about taking their ring(s) off at night, etc. i wore my last ering all the time…only took it off to shower and clean (because some cleaning chemicals can dissolve the solder around the prongs/head). i wore it at night, doing laundry…i even wore it when washing my hands. i did break a prong on my old ering once, but it was before i’d learned the cleaning rule, and i had the entire head replaced with a platinum one after that. that was a four-prong ring. my new ering will be a six-prong ring, and i don’t plan on changing my habits.
so when do you take yours off?

When I first got engaged I never took it off. Now, though, if I’m home it’s usually off. When I get home from work, right in the ring dish. Get home from being out, right in the ring dish. You get the idea.. EDIT: you should add a poll!

The jeweler told me that I should never wear it while cleaning or at night. She said that sheets are hell on the prongs of rings and can bend them and then you can lose your diamond. So I take mine off and put it in my jewelry box in my night stand every night.

I take mine off while I sleep, shower, clean, and at work. I’m worried about the diamond falling out when I sleep and I want to protect it from chemicals while I shower or clean. I take it off at work since I got badly injured last year. I don’t want to risk it getting broken or messed up again (maybe Too Much Information but it was covered in blood). I’ll also take it off if we get in a pool, go to the beach, or are doing something that might harm it. I have my husband’s grandmother’s diamond so I do not want to lose it. My SIL wears hers all the time though with no problem.

I’m the opposite.
When I first got engaged, I took it off to do EVERYTHING. I was scared to scratch/damage it. Now I wear it to do most things besides dishes, cooking messy stuff, showering or anything rough like lifting weights, moving furniture or something like that..

I take mine off at night, when I shower, and when I’m cleaning, washing dishes, or cooking anything that requires ‘messy hands’ – like kneading doughs, etc. I probably forget to put it back on in the morning rush like one day a week, which makes me freak out half way to work. “What did I forget?! Am I wearing pants?!”
I need to get up earlier for work 😉

I take mine off to shower, sleep, and work out. I have a cup to put it in so I don’t lose it haha. One time I forgot to put it back on and I felt so bad. It was a big event and I was seeing a lot of people for the first time since we got engaged, and everyone kept asking to see the ring. Only time I ever forgot to put it back on.

I take it off while cleaning, handling raw meat, baking, and sometimes when I sleep (if my fingers feel swollen from the heat).

I used to take it off to shower and while I was getting ready… blow drying my hair would burn my finger! lol
Now I never take it off. I check my prongs pretty regularly and have a 6 prong so if 1 does happen to break I don’t loose my b-e-a-u-tiful “best friend” hehe.. lol

Oh yea, when I do my hair! My hairdryer runs HOT and after only a minute or so my ring is burning my finger.

Mine comes off whenever I’m cooking, doing the dishes or in the shower.

As soon as I get home from work. I put it back in it’s box in my closet. It doesn’t usually go on again until after I shower in the morning. I just don’t want to lose it or wreck it while doing things around the house.

I used to wear mine all the time but now I’m more careful with it. I take it off when I’m at the beach/pool, cleaning, showering, working out, and at night.

I take mine off for sleeping and don’t put it on until I’ve showered and done my makeup (to prevent damage from sheets, and my fingers swell at night), cleaning with chemicals (to prevent damage), working out (to prevent scratches or denting), and any time I’m near water (because if I drop it it’s gone for good).
I’m really careful with it because it’s a family ring, and I do have an old ring that Mr.ND gave me when we were dating that I wear as a ‘stand it’ for swimming, etc. (Am I a nerd?…I like to keep my ring tan-line intact, lol!)

Mine comes off when I shower and when I put lotion on. Other than that, I just never want to take it off:)
