I take mine off when I’m handling raw meat, baking, cleaning the house, when I shower/apply lotion or if my fingers are swelling from the heat.

I take mine off a lot.  And I think that’s why the white gold is still in good condition 2 years after getting married and 5 years after getting engaged.

I take it off when I need to clean it or whenever I want Fiance to put on my finger again. It feels like mini proposal all the time. LoL. I know I’m silly.

I don’t wear my engagement ring, because it’s a pearl in a high setting, and I’m petrified of knocking it loose and not noticing, or damaging it. It’s an heirloom ring, so I’d be devastated if anything happened to it.

I’ve only taken my wedding band off once since we got married, though (a plain gold band). It was late at night, and something (an ant, maybe) bit my ring finger and it almost immediately swelled up to twice it’s normal size. I took it off when it started to swell because it was cutting off circulation.

I think if I had an expensive diamond engagement ring I’d probably take it off sometimes.

I take it off every night.  The band is pretty thick and heavy.  When I first got the ring I didn’t take it off at night but I would wake up in the middle of the night with what I guess you would call a fingerache.  lol!

I also take it off when I put my hands in something gross like ground meat or dough or a bucket of cleaner.

I NEVER, EVER, NEVER, EVER take it off when I am away from home.  I’m afraid I will lose it.

@Lapato: I don’t play with my rings so to say. I keep them safe & take great care of them. I never take my rings off outside of my home nor would I. They’re off for about 2 hours each day all together while I cook/clean/shower. Otherwise I wear them. Just because my husband buys me really nice shoes doesn’t mean I’ll wear them in the mudd on a rainy day, if you get my point. 🙂

I only take mine off when I shower or go swimming. It’s a little big on me, so I feel like wet fingers and a loose ring could be catastrophic.

I take mine off when I put lotion on, when I’m working on something that is greasy like my bicycle, when I’m rock climbing, and probably when I need to get my hands dirty while cooking.  I always wear gloves when doing the dishes or cleaning with harsh chemicals.

I take it off for general cleaning purposes, whether it be the house, dishes, the ring, or myself.

I think I only take it off when lifting weights, showering/swimming, and putting on lotion. I’m newly engaged, so I don’t want to take it off at night when I sleep because it’s like a wonderful surprise every morning when I wake up and remember I have a ring on that finger! I’d probably eventually keep it off at night if my jeweler advised me to.

I take mine off for 3 reasons and only these 3 reasons: 1) to clean with harsh chemicals 2) when using gel/moose or any other sticky product in my hair and last but not least 3) when doing other peoples hair!

I am a hair stylist and I am constantly up to my elbows in harsh/sticky hair products…plus if they have some wild hair it can get stuck on the prongs. Also it usually tares a hole right through the rubber gloves when I am coloring someones hair!

I have discovered that a sterling sliver grade .925 hold up better then any gold plating on a ring. I had a promise ring that got ruined cus I didnt take it off when I was bleaching/ coloring someones hair. The Hydrogen Proxide took the plating right off! I replaced it with a sterling sliver grade .925 and never ever had trouble with discoloration or damages again!

My e-ring is actually a 1.3 karat mystic topaz solitary set in Sterling Sliver grade .925! I absolutely love it!

Mine comes off the moment I come home. Since I am just around my Fiance and I am usually cooking, cleaning, playing with the dogs etc no need to wear it around the house.

I also play volleyball around 30 hours a week and I of course don’t wear it then either.

I take mine off when I work and shower and sometimes when I do the dishes. I’m a massage therapist so I can’t wear it while working so I put it on the necklace I have for work.

Everything she said. I have FI’s great grandmother’s ring. No way I’m taking the risk of ANYTHING happening to that baby. It stays in my jewelry box on our dresser when it’s not on my finger.
