@missbluesky:  It honestly only started feeling real for me lately and Im about a month out at this point.  Didnt feel real when I had the dress on… but it felt like I was a real bride when they put that veil on me.  It started to feel real i think when we started getting the rsvps in and after I had my bridal shower.  After my shower and all the work was done, I was so excited to marry FI!  I think its a lot to do with every piece that I and we have set is coming together now so I can actually see and hear the day now.  Fiance and i sat down this past weekend and picked the music for all of the formalities, and I got really pysched after that too!

OP, have you had a long engagement? Ours is 5 months long (we’re 3 months in) so it has felt SO real the whole time. Ha!

@missbluesky:  yeah and i think these shows sometimes build up the whole disney fairytale idea too… i mean im not floating on a cloud all the time but ill get bouts where im like OMG this is really happening!  At the 6 month to go mark I was still in logistics phases and it only felt like it was some party that I was hired to plan!  I have rsvps of people who are coming… i know what they will be eating… i can finally picture the whole room in my head… the music playing… my whole look is together in my head… each piece is like a puzzle and my excitement is building.  Sometimes i get irritated but more so im over the irritation hump (tonight anyway) and im finally at the point where I kinda am acting like one of those tv brides… ( and i dont get really excited for anything!)

I posted about this recently too. Although I’m not as close as you are, I still have 12 months, it doesn’t feel like it’s happening. We’ve looked and and are in the process of getting final prices for our venue so we can book it, he’s got his wedding band, I’ve booked my dress appointment and nothing feels like it’s happening.

Maybe it’ll feel real after I go dress shopping. Knowing me though it won’t feel real until long after I’m married, lol.

For me, it slowly felt more and more real. A little when I bought my dress, a little more when we sent out Save The Dates, a little more when we bought our wedding bands and much much more real today when we combined our bank accounts.

I got my dress in February 2012, we bought the venue in November 2012, and though those were “real” moments for me where it hit me, “Holy cow! I am getting married” It didn’t really sink in until last week when we paid off the venue, and bought my veil and garter. There have been some nights I have a little panic attack because it is all happening so fast! The months are flying by me, and I am just so excited and want to complete all of my tasks now!

@missbluesky:  I am an August wedding too and it has only started feeling real for me. I think it’s because we are getting down to the wire and I still have a lot to do. My nerves and anxiety are in overdrive.

I’m four months out (been engaged since August 2011) and it doesn’t feel real for me either! I’ve done so much wedding planning but it still just feels like something I’m planning rather than a huge event that is actually happening very soon. I really hope I do get to experience that ‘can’t wait’ feeling!

@littlebeanpole:  Yeah up until lately I felt like I was the planner and it wasnt a wedding where I was a bride.  I actually still have a hard time picturing that its gonna be me… as the bride!
