I see different information…sometimes on the SAME websites.
For example on babiesonline.com: In one section it tells me that my 2nd trimester starts at week 13, yet another sections says my 2nd trimester starts week 14.
What have you heard? I wonder why I see different info?

I work for a health information triage service. In our database , the second trimester starts at 13 weeks.

What to Expect says 14 weeks…I’m kind of obsessed with that book, so that’s what I’ve been going by!

if a pregnancy is 39 wks (because 40 doesn’t divide nicely into 3) then:
1-13= first trimester

I’ve wondered the same thing! Is this our last week or is next week our last week in the first trimester? I see conflicting info as well.

I think it depends on how you count. If you consider a pregnancy to be 40 weeks, then the first trimester would end at 13 weeks, 2 days. However, that is kind of cheating, because, most likely, the first two weeks of the first trimester you aren’t even pregnant yet. So, if you chop those two weeks off, you have 38 weeks, or 12 weeks 4 days per trimester. However, you have that two week head start in the first tri, so technically, you would be considered 14 weeks, 4 days pregnant when you ended the first trimester.
Personally, I prefer the idea of counting it at 40 weeks, even though that is not technically accurate. The first trimester is filled with so much uncertainty, I think it’s best to consider it over as soon as possible. I am 13 weeks, 3 days today, and you better believe I am counting today as the first day of my 2nd trimester.
