Hi all. Im a summer 2012 bride and people have already asked when/where ill be getting my pics done? I have not put much thought into it although I do plan on it. FI’s uncle is our photographer so coordinating it shouldn’t be too difficult. Wondering if there is an unwriiten rule on how many months in advance it should be done. Thx

I don’t know if theres a certain time to have it done. I say do it when you want to! 🙂 FI and I did his before he deployed. It was within a few months of the engagement and quite a bit before the wedding, but obviously I guess our circumstances were a little different.
But I kind of think its nice to have them done when you still have the glow of “I just got engaged!!!” going on.
But I have also heard that some people wait until closer to the wedding because they use the photos on display at the reception and they want to look pretty much the same (Ie: hair length, weight, etc)

I think you can do them whenever you want to, but it would probably depend on what you intend on doing with the photos. Some people don’t mind waiting to get them done until closer to the wedding because they want to showcase them at the wedding. If you want to use them for a save the date you may want to do them a little sooner.
You could pick a special event, time, or place that means something special to you to get amazing pics and still have that glow on your face if you wait awhile. My Fiance and I are waiting to do ours until around Chritsmas because there is an annual event at a historical place that we go to year round. We’re getting married in April so that only gives us four months between epics and the wedding.

No unwritten rule. Whenever you like. Soo many options.
For us, we’re taking them in a couple weeks so we can still have our “summery” pictures at the homestead while everything is still pretty looking… and Fiance can get his “farmer-esque” ones – he’s head over heels to have have some professional pics with us and his tractors.

Thanks ladies! 🙂 I agree on capturing the ‘glow’ of engagement vs the look of stress from wedding planning haha..i’m favoring the fall/foliage time of year so something tells me that’ll be the time for us

Do them whenever you feel like it! I didn’t want the photos for Save the Dates so we actually just got around to having ours done last month.

I think as long as your get pics in time for whatever you might want to use them for (STDs? display them on the wedding? or maybe you just want to take them and it doesn’t matter when they are ready), it’s fine. We are having ours taken this Friday and our wedding is two weeks and a day later. We mainly just wanted to get some practice being professional photographed.

You can do them whenever you want. I’m not getting mine done until January of next year. My photographer’s package include Epics. I want to capture the snowy weather. Then in the summer I will be asking my Maid/Matron of Honor to take some of us as well, since he proposed to me last summer, I thought it would be nice to have some done in the summer.

I definitely wanted mine to be closer to the proposal than to the wedding. I think we’ll be a lot more busy closer to the wedding than we are now.. so we went ahead and did them last month, even though the wedding is over a year away. But, like most previous posters have stated, do them whenever you want! :o)

Whichever season suits you best. It was reallly important to us to have them done in the late summer and since next year we’ll be married in the late summer (yay!) we had to do them this year (today, actually).

I am a Summer 2012 bride as well and I am getting mine done mid-September. I want to do them outside and it’s just too hot to do them anytime sooner.
