Eek.  Okay – breathe.  Now do it again.  Keep doing it until you’ve calmed down.

I think you need to sit down and really talk to your parents about your concerns, without yelling at them or demanding that they find you a new venue.  The fact of the matter is, you accepted nearly half of your wedding cost from them, so they do get some say in the guest list.  However, it is also your wedding.  You also get some say in it!  All of these people just want to be there to celebrate your happiness, so try to remember that.  I know it’s hard.  It sucks, really.

Can you give your parents a set number – 50 people – and say “You get 50 people, FI’s family gets 50 people, and we will get 50 people.  Let me know who your 50 are, and we will invite them.  We cannot accomodate more than 50.”  If you give them a set number and ask them to come up the list, they will have to whittle their own numbers down, and you will be able to invite your own friends.

Good luck!
